Despite me liking the first game’s remake, I think I may have graded it a bit on a curve in hindsight, because this game blows it out of the water. Despite the story still being pretty lacking, and despite the gaping plot holes across the two campaigns meant to complement each other, and despite a couple of technical issues I encountered (more than the first game’s remake, honestly), everything else received upgrades across the board, ranging from minor to pretty major. The characters were improved in a minor but noticeable capacity, the gameplay was majorly improved, the graphics obviously got very much better, and the execution and presentation across the board was almost pitch perfect. All in all, I consider this game a raging success, and could honestly be a candidate for one of the best games I’ve ever played if it hadn’t been for the plot holes across the two campaigns. But even with that, I can say that if the idea of playing a survival horror game with excellent combat but still with the requisite resource management and oppressive atmosphere of a good one sounds good to you, I can recommend this game without a second’s hesitation. Color me impressed, though those who’ve played the original game should definitely know what they’re getting into.

I’m not going to overhype this game, but I will say that I can see why people love it so much, especially if they grew up playing it, because any game of this type can really imprint a lot onto an impressionable mind. Do I think it’s a perfect game that everyone will love? Heck no. But if a straightforward survival horror adventure game with logical puzzles, a creepy atmosphere and a sense of genuine character to its locations sounds good to you, I can recommend it without a second’s hesitation.

This game was hyped up to high heavens by those I saw reviews from, and when I started playing it, I understood why exactly. This game is not perfect, but it lives up to its lofty aspirations and then some, and it comes at among the highest possible recommendation I can give.

This game is a time-waster, but it's not a good one. The connect four pieces move too slowly, and the girl's character model has hollow, glassy eyes, so it's not even sexy. Avoid unless free.

Despite a couple of signs of its age showing, despite some issues with its main campaign persisting, and despite the occasional bug here or there, I’d say that this reissue is worth its $30 asking price. It’s got very pretty graphics, a constant stream of entertaining and fun gunfights, as well as loot, and the quality of life improvements between it and the original are palpable enough that it’d be hard to go back to the original. And with added Shift code support, the dedicated loot grinders will have plenty of reason to continue coming back every time a new one is released.

It's a very good game, but it's very difficult, even when playing with AI bots.

Aside from the brutally difficult final level, I'd give this game 90 out of 100. The game has aged very well from the NES era, and the visual upgrades are wonderful. And, it gives fans of the show a decent amount of fan service.

I recommend it only because of the gameplay and weapon variety. All other parts of it aren't so great. That said, once you get past the confusing level design, there's not much to hate.
