It deserves the praise it gets. I got hooked and I don't get hooked on a game very often.

it's a great co op game. Just log on, matchmake a random activity and go for it. There's enough build variety to keep it interesting for hundreds of hours and the leveling system encourages playing different styles. The raids are good fun and challenging as a coop experience. You have not played proper fps co op until you've played a raid in division 2 or destiny 2. It's a blast!

It's my go-to game to wind down before going to bed. Once you get the hang of it, play this on autopilot and enjoy a zen state of mind.

It's quite short, with 6-9 hrs of play time, but I like that to be honest. E.g. The New Order just drags on and on in my opinion. I'm pretty sure this was designed as a remake of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, without being marketed as such. The mood and story setting is very good. Recommended.

I have tried playing a few story telling games before. I absolutely dislike e.g. any telltale game, which I refer to as 'babysitting' a movie. 'What Remains of Edith Finch', however, is in a class of its own. It's absolutely magnificent story telling that never feels tedious. The story grips from start to finish and the interaction with the player is just right. The game is short, sure, but for most people this will rank really high in your list of best game experiences ever. When on sale, this is a no-brainer.

Very enjoyable game, and I'm not really a card game player. There's plenty of depth. Every single run is different, and adapting strategy to your current deck is a lot of fun.

It's not going to teach you real world coding, but if you can solve these puzzles, then rest assured that you possess the cognitive ability to become a decent real world software engineer. And along the way, if you're new to programming, then yes, you will learn a couple of things.

For an experienced software engineer though, this is a bit of an exercise in masochism. These microcontrollers are horribly constrained. You have little to work with, so you have to work around all these limitations. That's what puzzles are all about, and that's what I like: making things work with the tools that you've got. A couple of hours into the game, I am impressed. You get the incredible satisfaction of building and debugging a solution that finally works, but without other unpleasant problems that you would have to deal with in the real world :D

Grahically, it is a very smooth and finished product. Very clean and simple, yet detailed in it's visual design.

You can't really be disappointed when you buy this. If it turns out the puzzles are too hard, the builtin solitaire is really slick and novel. (Is that what a chinese card pack looks like? I should do some research.)

On a side note, I love the read/write blocking on the xbus ports. This introduces concurrency complexities that are totally real world (something that few real world programmers ever get a grip on)

I actually want to print the manual. I don't really need to. But I want to. Just as a gimmick. For old times' sake.

Played this for a few minutes just now on my laptop with 2012-era intel graphics but the framerate is too low to my taste. Nevertheless, after just a few minutes (or even seconds), the platforming starts to sync up with the rythm and when that happens it's absolute magic. The synergy of your actions with the visuals and rythmic audio is exhilarating. They hit the nail on the head with this in the most minimalistic fashion. Very well done.

I was both into and not into Rocket League from the start. I played it for about 10 hours in a few couch 2v2 split-screen sessions, and it was instant fun. Total party hit even though none of us had any skill whatsoever.

But for some odd reason the competitive online mutliplayer was just something I never considered doing since I figured it would be unpleasant at my ultra-low n00b skill level. So I never played online.

Until I did, and it was fun. And I kept playing. And I keep getting better. The online ranking keeps you playing with and against players in your skill level, and this is the thing with a really good esport game like Rocket League: the learning curve is really long but not steep. It's instant fun, but will take many hundreds of hours (if not thousands) to reach some level of mastery.

Sometimes, you'll will run into a smurf (= a highly ranked player with self esteem issues that plays at a lower rank to boost his ego). Sometimes though, this is just skilled mechanical player (the "silver prodigy") that has zero game sense. In fact, you can reach a pretty decent rank by simply positioning well.

Be warned, you will occasionally bump into toxic chat online, but you can mute them quite easily or learn to ignore, because there are lot more nice people than toxic ones. Also, some people claim reporting doesn't work but I've had many messages of offensive players being banned because I and others reported them.

If you have kids, they will love playing rocket league with you.

My only gripe would be that, as you get better, you'll soon discover you need to change your controls. I advise you to change the button mapping when playing for the first time. (at the very least, remap powerslide/air roll or boost. Google some pro player settings and pick one.)

End Verdict: highly recommended.

It looked like it would be an awesome game within the first hour of gameplay, but then it turns out teleporting is limited by consumable items. Manually running around an open world is just plain tedious. The game made a great impression, but the teleporting is a dealbreaker for me.
