I had mixed feelings about this game. While this game is extremely fun, gunplay is brilliant, enemy variety is decent enough, etc. Everything I said was counterbalanced by the unfunniness of the dialogues (I played Postal 2 and it was one of the funniest game out there), bugs (being stuck in walls, enemies that don't want to attack you, broken hitboxes or bad boss design and among many others) and the "one-liners" that got really annoying about the second level... It is a nice game and you should play it for its gameplay and not for its story or characters (I prefer Postal Dude's voice from Postal 2)

>boot up the game open-minded
>driving feels clunky but ok can get used to
>got teleported to somewhere and have 1 thousand pop-ups telling me to do tasks
>did tasks but struggle to find things to complete tasks
>finally repaired the car
>cannot find the way out to first mission
>turns out it was not an open world game and there are loading screens
>first mission, got bored, decided to stop and play tomorrow
>tomorrow
>restart first mission with a semblance of open-mind, saying: "it was only for the tutorial"
>didn't even remember the name of characters interacting with me and still don't know who they are
>went on with first mission, collected things, got texts about lore and saw creatures roaming
>collected everything and had to leave
>tried to leave but got killed by "something" right at the end
>went back to mission
>you have to do everything you did in the last run
>hit the uninstall button

NieR: Automata, the best most frustrating game I ever played.

I've played a lot of games in 2025 and I reckon this one might be the best, period.
Oddly enough, the first impressions I had with NieR were very and I mean VERY frustrating. Why is that? Because the game warns you there's no autosaving, meaning if you die during the prologue, you'll have to start all the way back to the beginning and all progression will be lost. Nonetheless, If you keep trying and you do not give up, you will be rewarded with one of the best characters, the most engaging story and most beautiful soundtrack in gaming history. The scenery is beautiful, the gameplay is varied, the characters are well-written and the story is really beautiful and also quite depressing actually.

But, like I said, NieR: Automata has its flaws, like the autosaving part as previously mentioned (I even wanted to give up in the middle of the game due to the difficulty and unfairness of the save system). In my opinion, the combat system was not that great and SPOILER WARNING: Playing the same events 2 times with few new changes to the story felt repetitive. And you will have to play up to 4 times to achieve the real ending which, btw, was incredible.. But in the end, everything you will have to get through will be worth it and unforgettable.

In conclusion: just play this game!

Glory to Mankind!

Ubislop at its finest.

Why is that?

The city may be gorgeous and living. However, it is "living" as everyone had either two reactions and had only insults coming out of their mouths.

While this game has been out for almost five years, it seems as broken as if the game released a few days ago. And don't count on the characters to feel something else than laugh or wrath, as they're just NPCs you can control or are bland and forgettable. So as is the plot, which will slip out of your brain the minute you finish this game.

The missions are repetitive like you need to go there and kill a guy or do a boring puzzle or survive hordes of enemies (which can be sometimes downright unfair depending on the difficulty you chose). And that's all.

Maybe I rushed through the game, completed the main story line and uninstalled it right after the credits had rolled. But, in my opinion, I think you'll see all what this game can offer in the first three hours.

Conclusion: don't buy this game.

ENGLISH:

It's been a while since I wanted to play this game. I bought Outer Wilds in 2023 and didn't first launch it till August 2024, just because "I didn't have time to play it" or because I was just too lazy, I dunno. I'm not a big fan of exploration games, or at least I've hardly ever played any. Moreover, I wasn't expecting much from, I've only heard that "this game was incredible" according to the hype it received.

So, I launched OW for the first without knowing anything about the lore, without any clue as how to complete the game or without even knowing how to play the game in the first place. And, to keep in short, this is a great game, even one of the best of this medium. You'll probably never have the same path to completion as others. But you'll always end up at the same ending. The exploration is excellent, as it is the main gameplay loop. The story's also great, but you'll have to find it yourself.

However, the game has some cons. Some planets can be fustrating and, while each puzzle makes sense, some can be tougher than other depending on the knowledge you acquired or how well you understand the world.

Just, if you really want to play or, if you are already playing and are stuck at some point, please don't spoil yourself and think about what the game taught you. Outer Wilds will reward you for your curiousity, insight and "brain usage", if I may say so.

In conclusion and to rate this game, I'll personally give it a solid 9/10.

Thank you for reading my review!

Merci d’avoir lu mon avis !
