I played this years ago, when it was a world wide powerhouse of a game, and it was, and still is, an incredibly action packed team game. If you can find an active community playing it, you will discover just how good it is.

I purchased ASE a few months after it launched, and racked up 8500 hrs in it. Even though the devs did little to nothing to fix the bugs, and started releasing DLC's while the core game was still a buggy mess, at least the game was playable for the most part. The lack of optimisation for most of that time, told me that either they didn't know how, or didn't want to do it. I have no idea which one is applicable.
ASA finally drops, and my online buddies and I leap in, thinking this will be a fun roller coaster ride, but as of today, none of us have more that 149 hrs invested in this new game, and none of us want to either. This new game wasn't re-written from the ground up, that is painfully evident, with many of the ASE bugs following us into this "new" game. The prospect of finding a decent second hand RX6800 or better, which still cost up to 900.00 in my country, further poured petrol on an already blazing fire of issues with this new game. Yes, hardware upgrades are inevitable with new games, but I get less than 20 fps in thew character creation screen.
Researching the publishers business practices should be enough to scare most intelligent people away. Something I would love to know is, where has the the billion dollars this game has earned, gone to? . We have a disastrously un-optimised mess of a game, that now has pay-to-win added, to really twist the knife already buried in your back, all the ASE official servers got switched off, forcing you to buy this new dumpster fire.
I feel sorry for the content creators out there, you know the ones I'm talking about, who basically have to lick boot, and call this new game "fantastic", while the die hard players like me, have uninstalled this game, and will likely not revisit it, and are off playing 7DTD or some other enjoyable survival game.
The purchase of this game, in my opinion anyway, is you saying "I love mediocrity, laziness, and a complete ignorance of the player base, and I want to support constantly late release dates, and out right lies".

After years of playing FPS games, I was not convinced when a couple of friends said "Terraria". What you dont see in the basic 2D side scrolling aspect of the game, is just how big it is, how many options/items you can have in it. It's what I call an iceberg game, the majority of it is hidden. Game play is fast, the mini bosses and bosses are well balanced, and there's a heap of weapons you can obtain and upgrade.

I've never played any type of RTS in my 35+ years of gaming, and despite this being an old game, I'm loving it. The variety of build combos is amazing, the weapons, and ground placements are well thought out.

This game managed to pry me away from 7DTD, which had consumed my soul for 6 months or more.

What is Ark?. Basically it is like the game Rust, but with Dinosaurs in it. If you join a PVP server, and are playing solo, and are a friendly style gamer, you will end up throwing a brick at your monitor. I am in a small tribe of 3 people on a PVE server, and there is still a huge amount of stuff to achieve and conquer, without running round destroying other peoples hard work.

There are frequent and varied updates, and it appears as though the Ark devs actually care about keeping us "sheep" happy.

The game is not optimized well for PC at this point, so I would not recommend it, if you only just meet minimum specs. You can suffer some devastating frame drops in high traffic areas, so keep that in mind.

You can explore on land, in the air, under water, down to some crazy depths too. There is a big quantity of tameable dinos, and they all have varying abilities, that help you hunt, or gather resources faster and easier. The scenery is outstanding, the resources plentiful, and the game seems well balanced for a survival one.

I have had this game for a couple of weeks, and have played nothing else since getting it, and am likely to play nothing else for a long time. This is everything I ever wanted in a game, maps that just keep going, fully destructible environment, zombies, and girls with bikinis. The crafting is a million times better than anything in Rust, the atmosphere is amazing. I think the Rust Dev' team should just walk away quietly, and bow politely to the Fun Pimps team.

8 members of my team have this game, and we are playing PVE, on a Random Gen' map, and everyone is loving it. Get this game. I will give you one tip for this game. If you find something made of Brass, keep it, even from the very beginning of the game. You will find out why.

Although the music quality is a bit "iffy", the game is a true replication of the original, with the added bonus of the magic booster system, which you can use to jump start your campaign, by maxing out certain magics after you have aquired your first couple of them, by drawing etc. This speeds the game up a bit, and makes it playable in this crazy busy world we live in. I have been playing for 3 days, and have just beaten Seifer / Edea.
