Bit of a frustrating sequel, to say the least. The bones are there for an amazing experience, but the amount of RNG layered on other RNG makes for a pretty rough experience.

Your failures aren't deserved, you just got unlucky.

Your victories aren't earned, the dice just rolled in your favor today.

There is no difference between losing and having lost due to the incredible spike in difficulty at the end, so there really is no point continuing a run that isn't nearly flawless. As soon as you get a negative relationship between two pawns, just go ahead and abandon that run and start over.

There's still a lot of potential, and we'll see how the expansions go. I personally love the new combat system, but as of this review I have about 33 hours played and I am not even close to unlocking every ability, which is a bit silly. How are players expected to enjoy with this system if it is so heavily time-gated?

One of the most unique games I've ever played. It's a shame it didn't get the recognition that it deserved, but here's hoping for NS3 some day.

It's so nice to play a game where the devs actually try to optimize it for PC.

The game certainly has good things going for it, but ultimately the combat is so bland that the biggest challenge you'll face is staying awake while leveling.

No dodge button, spell effects that are completely missing, and some of the worst sound design of any ARPG make for an incredibly middling experience. This one definitely needed more time in the oven before releasing from early access.

Once the new game joy wears off, you are treated to the exact same cycle as every other phasmophobia clone: find two clues quickly and wait around for 15 minutes trying to get the third.

Thrilling!

Oh but it's worse than that, because in order to actually exorcise the ghost on the first (and least buggy) map, you have to get a photo of the ghost AND get it to blow out a candle. Not as a bonus, not for extra cash: you MUST do these things in order to progress.

So, more waiting. And waiting. And waiting. Your voice will be hoarse with how many times you will ask it to give you a sign. Whoops, you dozed off for a second when it showed itself! That's another 5 minutes of waiting, if you're lucky.

In the meantime, you'd better hope it doesn't hunt, because hunts in this game are almost certain death. Unlike Phasmophobia, there is no hiding from the ghost. They will pursue you through any obstacle and will simply phase through any door you put in the way. Some ghost types will even hunt endlessly until they kill their target. Fun!

Don't bother with this one. It has some unique scares, sure, but the shock value wears off quickly and you're left with just a significantly worse version of Phasmophobia.

Legitimately one of the very best games that I will likely ever play.

It's like if Pokemon was actually good.

Just an unbelievably good game.

Not a perfect game, but it scratches an itch that no other game comes close to scratching.

Exceeded every expectation I had for this game. I can see why there is such a massive cult following out there for this game. The music, the characters, the gameplay... all flawless. If I could take a pill and forget my first playthrough, I'd do so in a heartbeat because this is just one of those games that takes you for a ride and doesn't quit until you're a sobbing mess.
