Grinding is fun if you make it fun. There's no such fun in this game, only tedium. They even make an automated path because they know there's little incentive in navigating the labyrinths once you've got past the first time.

You can make 30 adventurers but really all you need is one from each class. Maybe 3 mages each specializing in one element. Once you've seen one, you've seen all of them.

Your biggest source of money is gathering and not combat or quests. Gathering comes in 3 forms: mining, chopping, and harvesting. Each with its own skill, which has 10 levels and increase the limit of attempt per day. Each class except 1, the ranger, has only one of those. The ranger has all of them. So yes, the most efficient way to make money in this game is make 5 slave rangers, level them so they can have level 5 in each gathering skill because level 10 actually gimps your ability to get the rare item, and run 5 of them in a party through the safest route in a certain floor where you can reach the gathering point in one turn. Go back to town, sell everything, sleep at the inn and repeat.

The worst part of it is that I bought the trilogy as a bundle so instead of being stuck with a game that I don't like, I'm stuck with three. Now I have to fight my need to 100% three games I don't even enjoy playing.

They added DLC but forgot to include fun in it.

Originally released in 2012, back when they made games to be fun. Provides good amount of challenge while not trying too hard to be obnoxiously difficult. Checkpoints are plenty, which helps a lot. Despite having different costume unlocks, once you've played it you've seen it all.

Still, its 20+ hours of good fun, and being an old release it goes on hefty discount quite frequently.

To every game developers trying their hands on their own souls-like:

No, having your own version of Blight Town is not cool.

Marcus you sonnuvabitch, you made a good pair with Kaelith . We could've ruled together after the rebellion , you could've gotten married with her, have a normal life , go to work every morning , give some love to your red haired wife in the afternoon and have tons of red haired babies . But noooooo, you just had to stand up to your principles and now you rot with it.

Why would you have a cartoon-ish looking Christmas tree that plays seasonal music in the middle of a rain forest? And arrows made of currency that points to the next screen? And lemon grass bed as a save point? What is the explanation behind all these out of place phenomenons? Can't it be something that are better explained by the story setting and fits into the universe?

Combat is fluid and the mechanics are solid but these kind of pet peeves just take the immersion away from the game. This is a promising Indie game and I hope nothing but the best for this studio moving forward but this game is just not for me.

I was looking for a game to scratch that Castlevania itch. This one isn't it. The game simply doesn't interest me enough to make it enjoyable.

I sincerely hope for the best for the devs but this one ain't doing it for me.

You can clearly see the potential Obsidian have if they make games that were made to be good and engaging instead of pleasing the m0dErN aUdiEncE. The lore writing and story-telling perfectly reflects the grim narrative of the crisis, story continuity was perfect, class design were great and it has enough content to keep you busy for 80-90 hours.

Interesting at first but not enough hook to keep going after several hours. Felt more like doing a chore than playing a game.
