7/10
Lots of potential in this one. The settlement system needs a lot of work. Raids are the only downside to having a settlement (and poor performance), but they're not an interesting challenge as it really only comes down to how good you are at killing things i.e. how much damage you can deal before they kill you and your settlers. The settlers are also pretty shallow. There are 'professions' that can do specific work types nobody else can e.g. milking cows and fishing. Some like the miner can be sent away to gather resources you're too lazy to get yourself. Some have shops that you can buy from or sell certain items to. I feel like the shops aren't really worth checking a lot of the time, as there's not very many wonderful unique items in them. It's mostly just stuff that you'd be able to find normally in the world if you wander around aimlessly long enough. They get more stuff occasionally when you beat bosses.

The bosses are tied to biomes + a couple dungeon bosses. The biomes basically serve as the 'next level up' which made more sense back in EA when each biome was an island you traveled to (so it literally was another level). Now you better keep away from the edges of biomes you're not ready for and pray their monsters don't see you since you are hopelessly outclassed by them.

The biome/tier system kinda forces a pretty dull gameplay loop of -> finding/crafting tiered equipment -> fighting the boss of that tier -> going to the next biome/tier with gear that barely holds up to it -> repeat. I got as far as the deep snow caves and I realized that it's like this all the way to the endgame. 'Get this tier of gear! Okay! Now get this NEXT tier." You're never doing yourself any favor by hanging onto a lower tier of weapon/armor except to use it to craft later tiers of gear. There's also never a significant jump in the strength of the next tier of equipment, since you're now in the difficulty level that the gear was designed for after having to suffer through it with gear for the level below. It just feels like a 'walking up the stairs' simulator with repetitive music.

I'd like to see more content like weapons and equipment, more variety in abilities and enemy types. But I REALLY want them to flesh out the settlement gameplay more. I bought this game because I LOVE Terraria and Rimworld, and this seemed to be a hybrid of the two. But right now it feels like the settlements are just a thing you can set up in the background that's kinda cool but doesn't really matter.

You can make loads of money by enslaving your enemies and forcing them to manufacture drugs to sell without doing any work yourself.

This works in the game pretty well, too.

Update after update but the game doesn't get any less boring.

Plenty of garbage being added to waste money on, though.

Endnight really hit the nail on the head here. Even with the legendary status of the first game, they still managed to deliver a true successor and a better game. If you were a fan of the base building, survival, cave crawling, naked men, and grotesque mutants trying to kill you. You will find all of that upgraded in this game. My favorite, and I think most significant, improvement on the first game is the base building system.

The base building system has gone from the old "deliver x to bluprint" system to being more like minecraft, with the player cutting and placing logs/sticks/rocks/stones to craft their base in a much more unique fashion than could have been achieved with the old system. There's also plenty of "furniture" that you can build to make your house a home, as well.

Cooking game of the year.

10/10 would make spaghetti again.

P.S. The devs are incredible and deserve your money so please consider buying from their website[www.factorio.com] so they can get a bigger percentage of the revenue rather than 30% of it going to Valve.

Typical AE game. If you've never heard of this dev and somehow stumbled upon this with its currently "mixed" overall reviews status, I recommend checking out Artix Entertainment's Adventure Quest Worlds. That is what I can forsee the game becoming. Which is essentially a decent immersive story were it not for the constant grinds and microtransactions.

For AE fans, you can be sure to check back regularly for AE's latest creation sculpted identically to every other game they've made, but now it's in 3D.

Remember. With enough escorts, the enemy's bullets cannot hit you.

Atmospheric

That's my favorite part about this game. It actually feels like you're surviving in a zombie apocalypse. It's difficult, intense, and horrifying.

There are two base gamemodes each with a variety of maps.

GM 1: Objectives
Complete a set of tasks and fight through hordes of zombies to make it to extraction to safety.

GM 2: Survival
Fend off hundreds of zombies while securing a number of control points for ten waves until FEMA can stop by and pick you up.

The gameplay is similar to a first person shooter and, it being a hl2 mod, is fairly well optimised to run on most modern pcs. I had a good time playing this and I hope it never changes.
