Has some things to iron out but if this game gets the quality care Embark is known to give The Finals then I can see this game being a favorite for a long time

I was hooked by the demo a few years back and it did not disappoint.
Pros: captivating story, satisfying combat that makes you feel like you're in a "flow state", great visuals, great music, decent exploration.

Cons: one mistake often leading to instant death, even with full health upgrades is a bit frustrating, although alleviated by generous shortcuts and most enemies dying quickly once you have their "flow" down, the stealth prison escape section is a bit tedious , the final boss feels a little too tanky compared to the rest of the game, especially with 3 stages , no interesting method of farming Jin to unlock/purchase everything is available to my knowledge (e.g. the colosseum in Hollow Knight).

As a fan of the OG and RoR2 this is almost exactly what I would have asked for in a remake. Improved graphics, a banger remastering of an already banger OST, QoL changes like some movement while attacking, ect.

some current complaints however..
1. the moving while shooting mechanic seemingly locks you in that direction when undesired leading to casting an ability in an undesired direction or otherwise just making changing direction less responsive. (but this may be fixed by independent aiming like they talked about?)
2. the alternate abilities feel more like they were designed for their challenge and not normal game play. Even ones without an associated challenge don't feel like a viable alternative to the original.
3. Most trials feel poorly designed/overly frustrating (some have been fixed like the castlevania challenge). I cleared them all but have no desire to return to any of them to get a high score.

Everyone just plays unfun floodgates. 10/10 if you want a game that you can only play if you win a coinflip.

shoot bugs, mine minerals. Season one introduced very interesting weapons and the missions give you a good direction for something to do other than random missions for credits or specific minerals

Almost 400 hours in and 2 seasons later and it's still my go-to game. Genuinely one of the best co-op experiences out there. You can play with strangers and almost never feel like you're carrying or having to fight your own teammates to get through a mission.

Best of all it has a dev team that's active in their own community, they make changes the players want, they add in nods to community memes/tradition, they leave thankful comments on reviews.... As someone with almost 4,000 hours in TF2 it's very refreshing to find such a fun game with devs that are this passionate and in tune with their playerbase.

I was hyped for this game since it was announced. Loved the first game and love this one, It could've just been new maps & enemies but they went the full mile and made it 3D
