A frustrating experience in more ways than I think it was intended.

It sounded like the perfect game for me.

> Reach a summit never climbed before in this survival-climber from the creators of Furi and Haven.
> Climb anywhere and plan your route carefully, managing pitons and resources to survive unforgiving
> Mount Kami. Discover what Aava is willing to sacrifice to achieve the ascent of a lifetime.

I love the idea of a mountain climbing simulator game, but that's not what it is, though it seems like it at first.

> Cairn’s realistic simulation allows intuitive climbing: find the best holds and place your hands and feet
> seamlessly with simple controls. Adapt your posture, effort and balance —if you're not careful, you will
> fall!

The physics is super janky and that's bad in this kind of game where you're always in life and death situations.

It's very difficult to tell if something is a solid grip or not before gripping, half of the time the character will end up gripping somewhere away from where you had their hand or foot when it appeared to be perfectly positioned over a solid grip. Is that half-pixel pixel line a texture seam or a crack you can hold? how about that single pixel? normal map lighting or intended handhold? you'll have to guess and find out if you fall.

I had to enable the option which shows you an indicator when you make a firm grip, because otherwise it's basically impossible to tell. It's also very hard to tell if your character is running out of stamina or it's just getting dark because of the time of day, is their leg twitching because they're about to fall or because of physics jank?

The story and characters are not enjoyable and get in the way of the game, the forced cutscenes break the premise of the game, defeating the point of your efforts to survive.

There's a lot of supernatural and mystical stuff going on which also feels like a bait-and-switch.

And you really can't climb anywhere, the route for the mountain is quite linear with usually a few branches next to each other you can choose from, basically you just have to follow the path which has lots of cracks, everywhere else there is just nothing to climb and you can get stuck.

Wanted to love it, forced myself to finished it, had a bad time.

Hmm! I really liked the idea of this, but actually playing it is not that fun.

You end up micromanaging a single craftling half of the time, and it's very tedious and frustrating rather than relaxing.

Beautifully polished, but the gameplay I think is inherently broken, I would love if they can find a way to make it fun though.

Great little puzzle platformer, perfect length. Cute art and music, puzzles that push you but not so hard you give up. I had to get a hint for one of the later puzzles that required a new trick that hadn't been taught (that i noticed?), not sure I would have figured it out without help but everything else was perfectly taught to make you feel smart.

It was fun! I think I prefer the Case of the Golden Idol a bit more, I found the UI in Rise a bit more annoying to use with the floating windows, though it allows more variety of cases.

Really love these complex interwoven stories and how they all come together brilliantly at the end, great job writing team!

The art in the screenshots and trailer turned me off from playing this for a long time, but once I got in game I actually enjoyed the art style. It's very fun and interesting to unravel the plots in each scenario and the complex overarching story.

If you like Obra Dinn and Chants of Sennaar I think you'll love this. I like that it goes more into understanding the motivations, not just the actions.

Wow, this is a letdown after Doom (2016), so boring and tedious! The combat is not fun, out of ammo every 5 seconds, chainsaw to get ammo, can't see what's going on during the long chainsawing or glorykilling cutscenes every few seconds and suddenly all the enemies are different places, the story also boring (though I didn't get far before I gave up).

We've been playing co-op and it's a great 2 player tower defense and shoot em up.

It feels like a mix of Renegade Ops (one of the most fun and polished coop games) and traditional tower defense games.
So far i've enjoyed this more than The Riftbreaker.

Great game! Don't spoil it, play it blind. The production values are top notch!

More Lonely Mountains! The first one is one of my favourite games and this one is looking to be as well, I'm not very interested in the multiplayer stuff though the team mode seems interesting, but love the time trials and daily rides.
