Black Hole

An Invisible Threat: Black holes are impossible to see directly because they don't even emit light. We only detect them when they begin devouring nearby stars or distorting the light of passing objects.

Death of the entire universe: According to one theory, in the distant future, when all stars have gone dark, black holes will be the sole masters of the cosmos. Eventually, they too will "evaporate" (Hawking radiation), leaving behind a completely empty and cold universe.

Singularity: At the very center of a black hole lies a point of infinite density, where the familiar laws of physics cease to apply and space and time simply disappear. What actually happens there is the greatest mystery of science.

Time dilation: Due to the immense gravity, time flows differently near a black hole. To an outside observer, you would appear frozen forever at the event horizon, growing ever redder and dimmer until you vanished completely, while for you, the fall would take only moments.
