Rimworld is one of those games that you want to buy the DLCs, the team manages to feel what the community wants and bring completely new flavors for the game, things you actually wanted to play with an not something their marketting research came up with.

I've been playing the game for many years now and I'm always having fun, be it playing more challenging scenarios or simply protecting my ranch from raiders.

It's one of those games that doesn't require you to finish it to have fun.

The game is dull, the quests are not innovative, the combat is poorly balanced (unless you make your character into a gun slinger), and playing as a speaker makes the game progression horrible.

There is no system to track quests, too many things happening simultaneously and, well, no tracking system, at least historical information of quest progression.

Your party is nor personable and the quests and the way they progress towards being closer or more familiar to you is faint and unimpressive.

Not worth the money. This game is dull at best.

Early Access Review
TL;DR:

The devs were clear about the state of the EA, it a real EA with limitations.
The water will not bother you, people are just looking for things to freak out about.
The Minimum requirements are exaggerated.
The game is fun and it will make you feel anxious while trying to survive in a war zone.

The issues related to water are silly, you get too much water in the game. I even think the mechanic should be toned down a bit.

I'm not even very successful and I already have 30+ days of water, which means I can leave my game be for 30+ days. You I think the game allow you for water storage up to 90+ days or something.

The problem I can only assume people are having is that they are not spotting and learning how the enemy patterns work. They are not scouting the maps before going into it.

The game does have it's issues but this "Early Access" is a nice thing that devs did, even knowing the game was not ready.

The game is not ready.

This EA is for you that is into this type of universe and walking around a war looting corpses and occasionally killing enemies in close quarters.

Timeless, contradictorily fun, I've been playing dota since 2005, dota 2 since its release and it's amazing how the team behind this game never fails to disappoint.

Take your deep breaths and meditate before joining a match. If you don't have dota plus, it might be that you might encounter some swine spirits full of rage to throw at you. Dota 2 allows you to mitigate this by reporting people and muting them but still your game might end up being crap.

Dota plus mitigates these situations a bit because it allows you to see the match score before you join and I highly recommend Plus for the price.

Plus also brings a lot of silly small things that if you try out I believe you will find quite interesting what it brings to the game and the heroes you like playing.

I say this being a person that doesn't have a lot of time and have time for a couple matches that I want to be of the highest quality and fun to engage with my favorite heroes.

In a positive note, I'm not returning the game for the years of service from the DF team, I wish you success and will be revisiting this review in the future to update it.

To the review:

The game is violently glitched with basic things simply not working or no explanation of how to achieve them.

Try to collect water for instance.

I ditched one of my saves because DIGGING glitched and no dwarf could dig out of the second floor, didn't matter where I digged and was force to abandon the game.

In another walls and floors couldn't be build, even then my dwarfs were coming and going from that level.

And the game takes too long to develop for a broken game.

Give it time and when this garbage is fixed come back, meanwhile, play regular DF, that one works flawlessly minus fancy graphics.

Edit: The Game, now I realize, is unplayable and it seems the new update ruined a step further. Jesus, did anyone tried it in a mid range PC? This runs War Hammer darktide, not to mention any game I ever wanted to play, smooth.

I hope you can achieve playable game play because the only thing DF gives me right now is wanting to play another game.

Good Luck.

It's a very cool FPS, you can play it for hours with your friends but it will get old.

It's disappointing, spent a lot of time in this game and couldn't continue playing.

There was a point that I couldn't deliver the main quest. Tried to solve the problem, went to the forums, just to discover that, till today, there are still basic game breaking bugs.

Despite all the work the devs put on this game it's just unacceptable to have a glitch in the main campaign that wont let you progress anymore.

Besides this, trying to solve the problem, I went back to the mission location (to test if going back to the location would solve the bug) just to not be able to teleport back to the main hub (where you need to go to deliver quests and pick new destinations).

The devs already posted about fixing this and this has been going on for a year now: https://v1.steam.hlxgame.cc/app/698640/discussions/0/1486613649677603957/

The game is broken, don't buy this.

That's a very cool game, cool campaign, voice action, it's short but I hope the devs do more of their thing. It remembers a little the experience of hotline miami, worth checking out.

After playing it for a while.
There are definitely some annoying things about MHW.
The voice acting being completely disconnected from the characters moth action.
The ♥♥♥♥♥♥ story development (even then the whole thing sounds nice).
The cringing anime things on this.
You have some glitches here and there: memory problems sometimes, some steam connection issues.
If you can overlook this kind of problem, wich in my opinion don't happen often (I would say I had 5 crashes and 3 steam related disconnections, even then the game handles the disconnection transferring you to a single player sesion and saves your progress, kudos on that), you may wanna keep reading.

PC Specs
AMD Ryzen 5 1600
8GB Ram 3200GHz
GeForce 1060 6Gb Ram

Visuals
I go for High configurations even then the game stutters from time to time, it’s not a big issue, mostly when everything is exploding and people are dying. My biggest complaint are the textures, they could be better, like they don’t look high res. The environment, UI, the flies that guide you, the ecosystem, I feel like it comes together, everything was very well crafted and it’s a pleasure to venture around the maps.

Controls
I have friends playing on keyboard and mouse and I’m playing on my Xbox360 controller, I kinda prefer the controller, even when I’m playing Bow or BowGun. I kinda learned how to play “FPS” like style in the controller just for this game. It works, I think all this years of monster hunter in consoles gave them a hint of how to put all together. Recommend to use controller but works fine (in my opinion with a few tweaks) with keyboard and mouse.

Fun Factor
I like going back to this game, it’s a little bit frustrating sometimes, it’s hard, it’s punishing, but it delivers a solid challenge. The way all the weapons work and how they are very special, like bowguns have a special way of being customized with mods that can change how the weapon work, the spear can shot bugs and they can be changed into a wide variety with different damage/effect/speed, the way the melee weapons work, you will wanna try them all and after you leveled up a bit you will wanna try them all again. It’s going to be full of “AAAAH so this is how it works” for a while.

Grind
Yea, there is grind, one of the works diseases in game, because if you wanted work you would at least pick one that pays you right? So, in monster hunter I think they found a good mid term, you will create your own objectives, after and while you finish the main campaign, and they will set what you will be killing. The hunts will rewarded you with parts of the monsters, decorations (skills that can be attached to your armors) and satisfaction (or endless rage and a broken controller).

Monsters
You’ll get them after a while and how they behave, they are divided in different groups (Birds, flying, brutes, etc), they have a different set of skills and they kinda match the environment they live in. It’s a puzzle to be discovered and mastered, some you will love and will try to repeat and some will, well, some will haunt your dreams.

Crafting
It’s simple and objective, you grab the materials and you make the things, the game has a filter so you can sort the equipments by skill, defense, resistances and stuff. Simple and objective.

Gathering hub
A place to meet your turf, make some arenas, some raids (they have a very interesting raid system), arm wrestling, some stuff there show off some of your Fashion Hunter. Nice place. It’s a little weird that the entire city isn’t a multiplayer space.

Fashion Hunter
You know people like to look beautiful and to show that off, that’s it, just felt like it was worth of mention that people do it.

Immersion
I feel like the game does a good job in that, hiding the monster health bars and offering it’s heartbeat as a measurement tool, the way the “scout flies” try to track the monster for you, leading you to the next monster track until you finally find it’s place, the monsters have common places that they frequent, sleep or have nests. It’s an interesting environment put together. They do a good job on making sense out of it. Dislike the anime taste on it very much it would be nice to feel less cringy. (Ha.)

Conclusion: I didn’t wanted to buy because it felt expensive, now I regret because this is how an expensive game should feel like. 8/10 and I feel like CAPCOM is making a lot of effort to reach the 10/10, regular updates, care for the stability of the game and ears for the community.

Controller Support:
I really like it, I wanted a game to play using my controller, this one popped up in the humble monthly, I really didn't expect much. But you know full controller support.
It's not often that you find a game that is not annoyingly hard to aim with the controller, without using auto aim, this one was pleasant, so if you are looking to improve your controller aim I extremely recommend.

Enemies (AI) and Stealth:
The enemies aren't that smart but if you play cocky you're gonna die for sure. One thing that I didn't like is that they always know where you are when you are first spotted so no running and hiding. That's kinda bothered me because I was looking to play stealth and sometimes when you ruin it you can't just get out of sight.

Story and Environment
Kinda silly sometimes, I was really driven by the lore hidden around the island, all the mix of different eras there made me hungry for more, there is also that amazing simple feature that you can examine artifacts that you find around the place. Sometimes it will give extra details about it. A very nice.

Animals
That was kinda frustrating because I was thinking that I was going to play against some kind of survival element, the game introduces you to cold, hunger, hunt and fire. Then it throws it into the trash because it was just about farming XP. Thinking about why from the beginning to the end, Why?
Even then the animals look stupid and confused about what to do with you, they run, hit their heads in walls and look like they are high and in a paranoia attack.

Thrill
Often the game is going to put you in a situation that you will feel your heart race, that was what I mostly liked, heights, chases, runs, jumps, vistas, they nailed that part. Maybe the speed when you're sliding some ropes could be faster and they definitely feel weird sometimes, but then I'm just being perfectionist.

Customization:
It's fine, I didn't even thought it was going to happen so it was a good surprise, nothing special about it.The game sometimes restrain your progress until you get some weapon upgrades, level design stuff but, you know, personal opinion, I kinda don't like to be restrained of some game área because you want me to follow a X story line.

Overall:
Pretty game, interesting characters and relationships, good story, good graphics, nice map, nice details. No regrets about buying it and I will keep playing and exploring the rest of the island.

OH THE COMBAT
I liked it it's simple and objective, I played stealth so I tried to take all of them with a arrow through the eye, waiting conversations to end and them to turn their backs to each other. When you need to face them directly like some big enemies you will find, it can get a little desperate (They love to put you in tight spaces).
