Review Showcase
This review may contain semi-spoilers. While I am avoiding any game content and the story, some things I cannot avoid to elaborate on points that bothered me during my playtime.

Ive been waiting until I 100%-ed the game before writing a review but oh boy, this one's a doozie to rate...

I'm on the fence on whether I should've recommended it or not, but I personally enjoyed the story, which pushed me to recommend it. HOWEVER, there ARE problems with the game!

Issues:
First of all, when I first started the game it set the resolution to 4K - I do not have a 4K monitor and couldn't change the resolution. After some frustrated googling and alt-tabbing, it luckily fixed itself.
Second, replaying for the 100% is PAINFUL. I'll elaborate on this more in the next point.
Third, the skill checks feel really odd if you've played DBD before. More on that in its own section as well.

Story:
Personally, I really enjoyed the story. I'm a fan of the Dead by Daylight lore and really enjoyed some of the insight the game gave. The multiple paths system would've been great too, if replaying would've been made easier.
These issues arose from me wanting to 100% the game. If you don't plan on doing that, feel free to ignore this part.
You CANNOT skip or fast forward previously seen cutscenes. Yes, the game is meant for the story, but if you want people to get all events, you shouldn't force them through hours over hours of replaying, just because a choice at the start affects a choice at the end that you need.
This perfectly feeds into my next problem: To make replaying easier, you can choose to play from a specific point onwards after completing a playthrough (Deluxe version players can do this from the very beginning). This is cool and all, but sadly immediately gets negated by the fact that you have to replay FROM THAT POINT ONWARD if you want to change something for a later choice.
Example: You chose option A at the start and are now trying to get a cutscene at the end, which requires option B to have been selected. Now you need to GO BACK to the beginning, select option B, and then CONTINUE THE STORY until the choice that you want to do to unlock the cutscene you want. I feel like it would've been so much better if you could've clicked together your choices after unlocking them instead of having to replay the game SO many times to unlock everything (I installed third-party software to fast-forward the cutscenes so I don't sit here for literal weeks, I definitely don't like the game enough for that).

Choices:
I think most choices and split paths you have in the game are really nice and either give you more / different lore or let you experience alternative scenes / endings. Unfortunately, some choices instead just feel like filler content.

Skill Checks:
The skill checks feel very weird if you're used to the DBD skill checks and can have really annoying input delay if your framerate is too low. Yes, I've had a 0.5s delay on all skill checks when playing on high quality graphics, which my PC should've been able to handle easily. Sometimes you get a great skill check with the good skill check sound, sometimes you get a good skill check when you're clearly in the great skill check zone. It just felt weird.

Performance:
Overall, the performance on LOWER graphics is pretty good. I didn't have any blatantly obvious bugs and the game ran between 60 and 90 FPS on medium settings for me, which I am content with. On high graphics though, the FPS may drop down to 30 or lower, making this an AWFUL experience. It makes me feel like it hasn't been properly optimized for performance, but might also just be my PC actually being too bad to handle it somehow.

TL;DR:
Overall, unless you either really like story games or have mild interest in the DBD lore, I probably wouldn't recommend buying this game. For a single playthrough, this game is great and I loved the first playthrough I've had, but replaying for missed items or for the 100% just feels awful, especially if you choose to actually sit through all cutscenes at normal speed (aka. not getting third-party software). The skill checks feel very weird if you're used to the DBD skill checks and can have really annoying input delay if your framerate is too low. Yes, I've had a 0.5s delay on all skill checks when playing on high quality graphics, which my PC should've been able to handle easily.

(I may repeat myself here)
Personally I really did enjoy the first playthrough, just don't sit through the pain of 100%-ing this if you're not willing to spend literal days or even weeks rewatching the same story over and over again.

Also, DO NOT get this game for the DBD rewards, I'm serious. It's not worth it.
