DnD but it's single player. Surprising amount of combat depth. Devs are very active on it. Hard game, especially in the early game. You are just another person in this game. Almost anything can kill you if you aren't careful. That said, it is very rewarding to see your character grow and become better and better. Recommended.

Before playing Xen: I don't see how Xen could have delayed the game so long.

After playing Xen: I now understand. Recommended.

Subnautica reinforces the following things:

1. Shallow corals are a magical wonderland in which laughter and whimsy can be found at every turn. This remains true until you enter a cave and encounter, what I only could describe as, "a territorial hand grenade".

2. Staring into the deep ocean blackness evokes a horror that, by comparison, makes the asylum from Outlast look like a five-star BNB run by puppies.

3. Things with sharp, prominent teeth do the kinda things you'd expect sharp-toothed things would do.

4. In the future, it will be mandatory for clothing to have personal gieger counters (that still make that iconic, 1930's clicking noise) built into them.

5. Piloting a mini sub is now officially called "happiness". Here's a helpful example: "The captain said I need to go and happiness around the base perimeter. Man, I love my job!"

And lastly...

6. During your watery travels you may hear what could only be described as "a T-Rex, but underwater". Upon hearing this soul-emptying cry, you may find yourself shaking uncontrollably (like a newborn fawn on a paint mixer during an earthquake). This is a perfectly adequate response.

Recommended.

Take Terraria, add some Borderlands, a dash of space travel and TA-DA! Starbound! It's awesome. Buy it and play it.
