Do you remmeber that scene from Disney’s Ratatouille, where the Critic takes a bite from the ratatouille and is taken back to his sweet childhood memories?
This is exactly how I felt on my first match on Helldivers 2.

Simply put, this game has all the fun that old games used to have, with all the bells and whistles of modern games.
The devs have immense passion for this project, and it shows: from the amazing visuals, deep mechanics, awesome soundtrack and epic live service story.

Gameplay wise, this game is a third person shooter (with optional first person aiming mode) coop game.
At the time of this review there’s 2 enemy factions: the terminids (bugs) and the automatons (bots). Each faction plays very diferrently, adding replay value to the experience.

This game also takes advantage of its live service component to push a DnD stile campaign narrative.
Our goal, as a community, is to RP as Helldivers, Super Earth’s finest soldiers, and to succed in Major orders tha we are given each couple of days. You are not required to follow these orders, and are free to play however you want, but I recommend going for these objectives, as it is the most fun part of the game.

Monetization wise, everything can be unlocked for free, as the game’s currency (Super Credits) can be easily acquired by playing normally (something like 10 to 30 credits per match).

I highly recommend not waiting for a sale, this game is very worth of its price of 40€ (honestly I’d pay 70€ for this game).

At the moment of writing this review there are still many dislikes, but it’s because there was a Sony related controversy that has been resolved in the players favour, so don’t mind those.
