Unlike the main game, this expansion is disappointing. It's basically a series of boss fights connected by a pretty linear quest. And the boss fights are frustrating: enemies with 10000000 hit points, where if you make one mistake, you're dead. And your sword will do almost no damage to most of them. Doesn't matter how well you can dodge and parry; even a very solid series of hits with the sword will do basically nothing to them. So if you put your skill points into swordfighting, well, it sucks to be you. The bosses all have some weakness that will take lots of trial and error to figure out, but even once you find it, yeah, you need to hit them like 50 times before they go down. And if you make one mistake, you're dead.

tl;dr: alternates between fairly boring quest storyline, and frustrating boss fights.

Well.. you should've prepared more on every boss and read the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ information givin. Otherwise you should just play it on very easy. Craft bombs, smother your sword in oil and use your signs well.. Only then your sword will be usefull.. And if it takes 2 hours to make specific oils and bombs, then you have 2 more extra content to play and you might stumble on extra contracts!

It did take me a few tries, but it wasn't hard at all. I played on the hardest difficulty too.

I enjoyed this DLC. It was fun playing quests that were really unique and nothing like the quests in the main storyline. Also you may have been too low leveled for the DLC. I started the DLC at level 32, and the hardest part was the side quest involving the eternal flame. The bosses, however, weren't that much of a challenge if you know their moves or weakness.
