Played an 11 hour game as Hungary, built up a massive army, speaking for Hungary, ( 880,000 troops ) in 78 divisions, holding off USA and Britain that came through Greece, only for Germany to surrender and the game paused and said "Calculating Peace Treaty"...and the game was over. The next screen Hungary is Communist and so is all of Europe. This game mechanic is AWFUL and I'd recommend just buying "Darkest Hour: A Hearts of Iron Game", where you can fight to the last man or save your allies even if they are fully taken over. Don't buy this.

An absolute bugged mess of a "game". This was actually FUN a year ago when it was available for purchase on Steam. Every "update" after the original Steam release version have been plagued with bugs and things that just make it miserable, take forever to load, and just outright crash. No, computer specs have nothing to do with it.

Do NOT buy the excuses you may see on positive reviews defending the developers by saying "RUSSIA INVADED UKRAINE!" And? I had no problem waiting for them to ACTUALLY make the game. Instead it just went "full release" ( which it is NOT ), and under the defense of "RUSSIA DID IT." ha, no.

They also made the Russians in game end up at war with everyone at the same time because of "current thing". Absolute nonsense.

This is a LIE. Three of my favorite ships, IMPOSSIBLE to actually recreate.

Deutschland-class cruiser (1929), Bismarck-class battleship (1940) and the Admiral Hipper class which isn't listed on the store page for whatever reason.

Speaking of, the "historical" markers that were on the ships WERE in the game last year, but people cried about it so they were poorly smudged over.

According to Game-Labs, The Soviet Union = Not censored because good. National Socialist Germany = censored because bad. SOOO HISTORICAL! Might as well just have kept the Imperial Russian and German flags.

The "game" is a buggy MESS yet instead of making the game playable and fun, they spent time and effort on pleasing social justice warriors. What a MESS.

don't bother with this game. if you play as the germans, allied players can slander you and call you a "racist" and all sorts of other nonsense, and the current existing servers have admin that won't do anything about it.

basically a game full of zionists... so if you're a SJW, you'll fit in perfectly.

great game, but a toxic, anti-white, racist community.

i literally have to give this a "Not Recommended"... why? let me explain....

before? i would have said to buy it, even if you own AS1... sort of a waste of money, but at least no third party multi-player. ( AS1 should have been integrated into steam servers after gamespy closed all servers for all games they supported... but hey, screw that, charge the same players for another game if they want online features )

EVEN before i'd say buy this even with it being the EXACT same game as AS1, just ... horribly optimized? somehow my computer can play AS1 no problem. but AS2 dominated my computer....? when they're the same game? no, i don't understand either.

but then..... they did the WONDERFUL "Game update 3.112.0" and this has destroyed the game for me. not only does it run EVEN worse on my computer, to the point that any co-op is impossible even with having very fast internet.... but NOW???

NOW... you have NO supplies in trucks. no ammo, no anything. oh wait, grenades...? cool? yeah, not really...

i loved preparing for an assault, stocking my soldiers up with ammo then heading out. now? you can just put 5 grenades on each person and ... nothing else. i hope you like grenades, because that's all you'll be getting.

before, you could unload shells from trucks and make IED's. now, obviously you can't.

your troops get a magical resupply of ammo from trucks. even the officer supply drop was ruined. no rifle ammo, no SMG ammo, no MG ammo. your troops can just fire all day and get resupplied from a small paradrop. it makes NO sense and just kills this game for me. the realism is thrown out the window.

sir hinkel, as i'm sure anyone that plays AS1 or AS2 knows of... ( if you don't, he makes missions for the German Soldier's Mod, which is amazing as are his missions ) made scripts that resupply your troops with crates / trucks. you can watch the ammo going from the truck / crate, and going into your soldiers inventory. it only resupplies to a set number. so 100 rifle rounds, 300 SMG, 1000 MG....

yet the developers somehow did worse than..... a random person using Gem Editor? are you SERIOUS? someone working for free / fun made resupply amazing yet people making LOTS OF MONEY FAIL!?!?!

i've held off on this for a few months now. there's no difference..... i bought AS2 ONLY to support this company for making games that have realism. now? NO. ( stupid me, i even bought the Deluxe Edition to support this company )

sure, video games are all fantasy, even simulators........but this just destroyed it. this game is not "early access" or alpha, or beta, or ANYTHING else. it's the complete game, and they ruined it for me...

yes, yes... i know, huge long rant about one thing, but it offended me this much. i even posted to developers......no response. nothing. this is the only reason i waited for the negative review. in hopes they'd see and fix this horrible thing they've done.

because of this, i truly can't recommend that you spend ...any money on this, let alone 29.99$ ( as of this moment )

just buy assault squad 1 for a lesser price tag... unless you are REALLY devoted to multi-player and don't want to use third party programs for it.

seriously... AS1 is a master-piece and there are a lot of cool scripts and other things you can use to make awesome missions yourself. it's not hard, just need to spend some time on it. i'd be happy to help anyone learn how to use things in Gem Editor, especially for AS1. ( also AS1 will run better on your computer, no matter how good.... or crappy your computer may be )

hmmm also, if anyone thinks "only 21.6 hours?" or anything... look at my play time for AS1, 358 hours as of today, and it "may" be my favorite game...ever. that's why i know AS2 is a huge slap in the face to anyone who has played the men of war games. ( if not going even further back with faces of war and even further back... )

IF and ONLY IF developers put ammo into trucks and crates again will i give this a positive review, and i'd even suggest you pay 29.99$. it's really not a bad game, seeing as it's close to a direct copy / paste of AS1... just doesn't run as smoothly.

I found arma in general because of another game, Iron Front... using the arma 2 engine, but way more fun. anyway... because of gamespy, that game is destroyed. the main reason i loved that game is the domination 2 maps from arma 2. these were converted for Iron Front. I loved grid by grid... sneaking around using smoke grenades and taking out infantry and tanks. awesome. well i can't find those files to even play alone with AI in LAN. nothing. ( if anyone even reads this, and you SOMEHOW have those files, please tell me. haha ) .....so, i play this since it's free for a few days...............well, i liked that it auto-detected that my laptop is bad. i was at 20 frames per second, same as in arma 2 and iron front. however, it seems to manage 20, yet... it has to look inferior to arma 2?

single player? the story didn't pull me in. although it did have an amazing highlight. you're told to be careful because some goats are in the road. "hearts and minds". right, so i run over almost all the goats in one pass with the vehicle i'm forced to drive. "KERRY, WHAT THE FU(K ARE YOU DOING?" or something like this. too funny. but then the story just sucks from here. i couldn't bear to die another pointless death fighting terminator squads to even see how it turned out. why did the people..er clones of Arnold Schwarzenegger turn on you? i don't know, or care. it just stopped being fun.

so i play some multiplayer.........i go into some "life" server. ehhhh i just stopped after i figured out how to use the money and whatever, but there were no guns in the gun store, so i felt trolled and just bored.

this is when i decided.....i don't want to play this game, i'd rather just buy arma 2 for LESS than 1/3 the sale price, which was 30 dollars at this time.

also, i read the negative reviews and many of these have great points. no need to repeat them here. look for yourself.

it's not a bad game, but i could never suggest to anyone that they pay 60 dollars for this. especially with it annoying you to buy DLC.......eh, that's such a turn-off.

now i can uninstall and make room for more arma 2 mods..... i'll probably never buy this game, unless it drops a LOT in price, or someone creates and amazing mod for it. then it's possible, and i may even suggest you pay for this.

really, if this game looks interesting, just go buy arma 2: operation arrow. still lots of full servers. :)
