Feels like someones first unity project that is barely polished. Needs a lot of work before it can be played by anyone.

Runescape Dragonwilds

As an old Runescape player, I happily picked this up, expecting a Valheim with magic in the Runescape world. The game feels like it has some good things going for it, but I'd say it's not worth the 30€ you're expected to pay. Here's a summary of what I liked and disliked.

Liked:

• Good music
• The leveling system of skills got the constant stream of dopamine, without feeling like a grind.
• Good ways of harvesting materials with magic makes it less of a grind than other survival games.
• You can do everything, ranged, melee, and mage without choosing a class. Your outfit and levels control your damage.
• The building system seems pretty deep; I'm always a hobo who lives in a 5x5 square, but I think you can create pretty cool castles in this game.
• Cooking was pretty nice, but you can also go the hobo route and only eat red berries.

Disliked:

Combat and enemies
• The combat system is dull, repetitive. It's the classic Runescape combat where first your opponent does 3 attacks, then you do 5 attacks, over and over. The enemies really just wait for your turn to hit them, which reminds me of old school Runescape. This, the main important part of the game, really has to be improved.
• The attacks you do are mindless, one animation, over and over, 4 clicks on your mouse. It's almost never worth interrupting this animation, and it's a bummer. The combat is not interactive.
• When you die it's not because of your mistakes, it's because the game is janky and sometimes the enemies stunlock you until you die. (The combat is really bad.) Would love some skill expression.
• The enemies' detection radius is really small and they just ignore you, their pathing and AI are bad. I've seen indie games with better enemies and combat.
• Using your cool spells makes you have to stand still for 3 seconds, meaning you will never use them in combat since a single point of damage cancels the animation. Very clunky with spells made for combat.
• The poison dragon constantly flies and ♥♥♥♥♥ your ♥♥♥♥ up without warning, and you can't do anything to defend yourself.

Need more skills
• Currently, there are 7 skills. 3 Gathering skills, 3 processing materials skills, and 1 combat skill!
• Ranged and mage do not have skills to level, you can only level melee combat currently.
• ^ THIS IS 2/3rds of the game that you currently can't level??

The world is flat
• The sound effects from enemies play over and over again each time they get into audio range, ruining the immersion.
• The world seems pretty flat after a while, with the enemies changing shape and name but still maintaining the same feeling in each zone.
• There's a lot of running, especially if you die while out on a quest. You have to run back a long distance to get your items back.

• There's only one questline and it's not interactive or very fun. Needs more quests.
• Eat, Drink, Sleep, Eat, Drink, Sleep. This part was not fun and mostly an annoyance.

Overall:
The game is fun, but it's not worth 30€. It could possibly be worth it in a year or two, but there's a lot of content lacking. It is a fun game though; I bet you could spend 5+ hours into it without a problem. If you have the money and want to go on an adventure, go for it! If you're on the fence, I'd recommend waiting at least a year until you pick it up.

I like it, the game feels "wrong" to play. A beautiful game.

Bad optimization lead to a fast refund. The required pc specs for playing the game is too high, I think this will be its second biggest downfall after the super sloow combat and slow and campy playstyle.
