I played this quite awhile ago, and my memory sucks, so unfortunately the details of what makes this game so amazing are fuzzy. What I recall is that RotTP is truly a hidden gem of a JRPG. Despite only having played through it once, I consider it to be just as good as any of the other amazing JRPGs in the recent explosion - Chained Echoes, Sea of Stars, Crystal Project and the like - and even better in some regards. I would say it is closest to Sea of Stars, which is a huge compliment (to both games). The combat is great, the team made really good design decisions throughout, the story is engaging, the characters have depth... overall, just a really memorable experience. Highly recommend!
