An amazing cRPG that nails the grimdark atmosphere. If you are unfamiliar with the 40k universe, it could be a perfect place to start.

The depth of the companion characters' in Rogue Trader might be one of the best in all cRPGs out there.

The myth of the gaming world, the legendary artifact of procedurally generated stories. This has been in development for many, many years, and gave birth to countless epic stories. It will demand the most of your cognitive abilities and of your imagination, but if you dare, it will be absolutely worth it.

The core gameplay is not actually that hard to learn as some people will say, especially with the new interface and visuals for the Steam release.

The dedication of the developers still updating and modernizing this game is insane.

Ever felt that peculiar emotion of facing something dreadful lurking in the darkest depths of the Unknown? This is Sunless Sea in a nutshell.
I would recommend the game for players who:
  • are not afraid of reading large chunks of text
  • enjoy exploration
  • are familiar with and embrace the concept of "Losing is Fun"
  • appreciate the works of H.P.Lovecraft and his writing style

Pros:
  • The story has a great setup and idea behind it
  • Many choices throughout the game that can make you question your morals
  • The time travel concept, although wobbly at times, is nicely implemented
  • Decent music and audio design

Cons:
  • Did I mention the amazing overarching story in the Pros section? While it is great, the execution was mediocre. Especially the amount of cringe in the details, such as dialogues, text notes and main protagonist's inner thoughts
  • Did I mention the plot choices in the Pros section? Well, they do not really matter in the ending at all
  • Lazy graphic design, as in some textures look way too blurry or seem abandoned by the artists

That feeling when a character says a poorly written, unrealistic one-liner! Or when you see a nice character development followed by atrocious, shallow actions or speech. I believe "cringe" is the proper term for that. The cringe from all the dialogue lines and character motives was overwhelming to such an extent it ruined the otherwise good story for me and that is why the review is negative. Proceed at your own caution.

A solid successor to XCOM:EU/EW. More polished, more customisable, better main plot and perfectly nails those slow-motion scenes.

Just like any other game, published by Wadjet Eye (look up Blackwell series, Gemini Rue, Primordia and Resonance), this one does not disappoint. This time the plot is set in a cyberpunk future, and although the atmosphere is great, the downside is that you are likely to have difficulties learning how certain concepts work. Especially in the beginning. However the puzzles are quite good and entertaining, the voice acting is great and the plot twists will appear whenever you are not expecting them.

A solid recommendation for those who appreciate a good point-and-click adventure.
