I'm very close to finishing my first run. That being said, I saw people comparing it to Mutant Year Zero (a nice game from the same developers that I have also finished).

IMHO, Mutant Year Zero had a better story line and XCOM-like tactics.

However, that's not to say that Miasma Chronicles is a bad game, not at all! The main focus of the game is not their turn-based battles sometimes you're forced from the game though , but stealth-based combat. That, along with the plethora of weapons, attachments, skills and the post-apocalyptic cyberpunk style make it a really nice twist on the turn-based strategy niche.

Things I didn't like:
1) Small bugs like:
  • When you're crouching and you exit ambush, your character assumes your normal position but they are actually crouching. Making it a bit difficult to understand if you're actually crouching or not!
  • If your character goes solo, you enter ambush and then you cancel ambush, all the other characters MIGHT join you.
2) In many areas you'll find a locked door, the keycode to open it is different for each door. You'll have to try every possible 3-digit combination WITHOUT any reason! (or just Google Miasma keycodes)
3) Voice acting is not great.
4) Story line is OK-ish but not great either.

Overall, it is a very decent game that you should try if you like stealth & turn-based combat but I would recommend getting it on a good % sale.

Early Access Review
I really enjoyed the first version of the rogue-like PVE expeditions. However, they made it kinda weirder on every-update.
I also really loved the way you farm for more weapons, attachments and skins with in-game currency that you get from daily missions etc. The PvP aspect of the game is OK-ish but not anything that will blow your mind.
Overall it's a very underrated F2P game that should draw more players in, once they launch it. I will surely revisit the game!
I wish to the developer good luck with launch!

Update: Frag Lab has decided to pull a big F U on all the fans of the game, stay away!

Meh basically it's the same as Overwatch, but worst! Blizz took a nice game and turned it into a hot mess, it seems that it's their agenta these days (read the rest of the reviews I'm not going to bother)
Overwatch 👍
Overwatch 2 👎

Sell it to the rust devs and go make your AI slop games (that no one will play anyway)

Kill mutated zombies whilst grinding to level up your perks. What's not to like?

So here's my honest review for The Shore.

First of all, we need to give a big applause to Ares for actually making the game. As an indie dev myself, I've started countless of projects but it takes so long to finish them all by yourself that you will most likely quit at some point. Ares kept going and he actually finished it, you sir have my respect!

But wait there's more! Ares and his small team are releasing constant updates. So any bugs and glitches mentioned before this review are either fixed or will get fixed soon enough.

The Shore is a mystery / exploration type of game based on the Cthulhu Mythos of the one and only H. P. Lovecraft. If that theme is your cup of tea skip my review and buy it now, you'll be supporting an indie dev and not some triple-A cash grab company (I'm looking at you Bethesda)!

But let's go to the actual review now:

Graphics
---------
Wait, are you sure this is an indie game? The graphics are fantastic! Sure it can get a bit dark at some points and the UI needs some work but overall I'm stunned and I'm sure that they will improve the UI soon enough.

Music / SFX
-------------
It's OK nothing fancy here but it works well with the game.

Narration
----------
The narration is amazing! It gets you involved in the story as soon as you start the game.

Gameplay
-----------
As I mentioned before, if you like mystery/exploring type of games and you're into the "Great Old Ones", I'm sure you'll love it! If you only like pew pew stuff then most probably the game is not for you.

Bonus points for: subtitles (probably they will translate the game in many other languages soon), constant updates, the boat resting at the shore named "Argyro" which is exactly like the small fishing wooden boat that my grandfather used to have... named "Argyro" as well! (I'm not crying, you're crying).

Overall: a solid 8/10

Not part of the actual review, but I'd really love tobe able to play actual chess on the lighthouse!

Update: Payday 3 was such a flop that they added a subscription on a 12yr old game!!!! RIP Payday franchise.

If you like the theme and to grind (a lot!) then this game is for you!

Great PVP, Great PVE with events every now and then, great builds / customization for your character, no p2w (some things are locked under DLCs, but you should be fine without them too). Overall, a solid recommendation for me!
