I think for a dollar, this is a very good game. For 5 dollars, also not a bad buy. At 10, I'd be a little hesitant because I feel like there's a lot here but it's also empty at the same time. They went pretty far in terms of world building and getting the saturday morning vibe. It's pretty cool but I'm already at episode 6 out of 9 and I feel like I've already seen everything the game has to offer. There's a lot of upgrades that will probably make the game too cakewalk and at that point, why bother?

I think this game lives and dies by the multiplayer element. The best times I've had so far was with someone (always a stranger) by my side and I gotta say I had fun even though the levels look exactly the same each time I play them. I know I'll soon tire of them but I hope Beamdog took what worked here and tries for a sequel some time in the future...

(I will say that going Epic exclusive for a year and pc crossplay only really killed any hope this game had.)

Edit (3/18/26)
I feel like this is half a game. There's really only 9 levels and after you've beaten them you can beat them all over again in a higher difficulty and I guess that's really it. I stuck with the rogue character the entire way and have zero desire to try the others.

Yeah, this game had a lot of potential and I love what they tried here. It just feels really disappointing and it's just big shame.

That said, I still recommend it but not for more than 5 dollars and please don't think this game is going to keep your attention for more than a weekend.

This is definitely my game of 2026 so far. I just really like that I can pick it up, spend 10 minutes on a mission, get my action fix and leave or come back for more. I'm at mission 40 something out of 80 something and I'm still loving it. Haven't touched the online but I think it's worth noting that you should pick one or the other as your progress doesn't seem to transfer over.

If you can get it for a 5 spot, sure why not. Pretty good ports of Gradius 1, 2 and LifeForce. The rest are whatever (I feel like NES Twinbee is better)

These games take a lot of tweaking to play right. I had to disable steam overlay to get the controller to play nice and the display options (and presentation in general) are really strange.

Honestly I'm comparing this with an older Konami collection on the GBA that had Pooyan, Yie-ar Kungfu and Time Pilot (plus a bunch of others). Konami mentions them in the in game "bonus booklet" but I mean just throw them in why don't ya..

This game is great but there's two things that kill it for me. Stunlocking. It's like if you make the wrong move, every enemy on screen targets you at the same time and it'll take you a good minute to get back your footing. This is also when the game decides to pump the sound volume all the way to max and fill your ears with nothing but explosions.

Those gripes aside it plays like a space Monster Hunter except the monsters feel kind of useless and in the way. In face, I'm pretty sure you can ignore bunches of them and just rush to the checkpoints. (haven't experimented with that yet)

Anway, you get to pilot mechs which feels pretty good. Gattling guns, rocket launchers, lazers. This was the epitome of Xbox 360 gaming so get for that reason.

Christ, now this is a game. It's like right after the tutorial you know it's gonna be great.

Be forewarned however that you need to do a lot of patching and configuring to make it behave. Also, no controller support but the keyboard works really nice.

I dunno what compelled Strategy First to redo these games but they did a great job. Flatout is the bargain basement Burnout but feels really good. Bugbear would later go on to do Wreckfest...

Haven't played this since the upgrade a few years ago. They really fixed it up and it runs like a dream. Really great value especially if you get the Flatout bundle.

This is pretty much the Rambo game I always wanted but with Lara Croft instead.

Took a while to realize you need to throw your weapons if you want to get anywhere. After that it pretty much rinse and repeat. Not bad but not great either. There's definitely a lot of game in here if you want it.
