Somewhere between “this was cute” and “I need to replay that route”.

✧・゚: *✧・゚:*T R I V I A *:・゚✧*:・゚✧

( ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈♡) I live in pixels and words; BL, bara and M/M games keep me busy.
(づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ still believe in love at first sight (mostly in VNs).
(; ̄Д ̄) “Just one more route” has ruined my sleep schedule.
(╥﹏╥) I notice bad writing immediately and never recover.
( ˙▿˙ ) Small indie games? I will find them.
(╯°□°)╯Rearranging my Steam library counts as productivity.
( •̀ᴗ•́ )و I say I won’t go for 100% and then… I do.
(。•́︿•̀。) I get attached to one character and ignore the rest.
( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ Always linking itch.io and steam demos to myself so my wallet feels alive.

Guilty pleasures: cute CGs, extra scenes and overthinking every dialogue choice.

✧・゚: *✧・゚:* 2026 S T E A M GOALS *:・゚✧*:・゚✧

(ง •̀_•́)ง Try every M/M game I can find, especially the ones no one talks about.
( •̀ ω •́ )✧ Write reviews that actually help (or at least warn people).
(¬‿¬ ) Keep my library “organised” while buying more games anyway.
(๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و Give hearts to profiles i like; someone has to!
(; ̄Д ̄) Unlock every achievement, even if it means replaying the same thing 17 times.
(ノ´ヮ`)ノ*: ・゚Laugh at myself after 3 hours of farming or VN micro-decisions.
( ˘︹˘ ) One day buy a game just for the OST and feel zero shame.
( ̄▽ ̄;) Make sure these don’t roll over to 2027… (they probably will).

This review reflects my personal experience with the game. While I aim to write thoughtfully and as fairly as possible, my reviews are subjective in nature and should not be used as objective metrics to assess/critique a game. I also curate a steam group which focusses on reviewing BL/Bara/MxM VNs. Feel free to join if you would like to see more reviews! :) https://store.steampowered.com/curator/46061383-Gay-Games-Vault/

Verdict: ★★★★★

Writing & Story (★★★★★)

Robin Morningwood Adventure drops you into the village of Whellcum, where you as Robin, an adventurer trying to find his place in this very… welcoming village (if you are a man!). The story isn’t structured like a traditional RPG with a single overarching plot. Instead, it unfolds through the people you meet, the relationships you build and the choices you make as you spend time in the town.

Each character has a unique personality, its own quirks and its own storylines. Some are funny, some are surprisingly emotional and some are just completely ridiculous in the best way. The writing doesn’t try to be overly serious, but it still manages to create memorable moments. Warning: you will get addicted to living in this village! The developers have created an utopia-like world, where there exists no discrimination for gay men and everyone works unitedly to protect the village and its people at all cost. I can promise that this game will continue to live rent free in your mind for decades to come!
If anything, my only real issue is that I wanted more. There are characters, like the thief, who appear often enough to feel important, but don’t get the same level of depth or exploration as others. It feels like there’s more to tell there and I would have loved to see that expanded.

Representation (★★★★★)

This is, without exaggeration, the holy grail of gay RPGs.

The game doesn’t hold back at all. It is unapologetically gay, unapologetically bara and fully embraces what it wants to be. Relationships, intimacy, humour, even progression systems; everything is built around that identity. The world feels a little like an utopia at times, a place where you would want to live in forever. You experience love, brotherhood, intimacy and you will get attached to these characters (for many different reasons).

What I appreciate most is the variety. You’re not just given one type of character or one type of dynamic. There’s a wide range of personalities, body types and relationship styles, and that makes the world feel alive rather than repetitive. It leans heavily into fantasy and eroticism, yes, but it also understands connection. You actually spend time with these characters. You get to know them. And that makes everything else all the better.

Gameplay (★★★★★)

This is where the game really sets itself apart from other games of the same genre.

At its core, it’s a mix of RPG, dating sim and life sim, with exploration, mini-games, combat and relationship-building all tied together. You’re learning skills, crafting items, helping villagers and unlocking dating scenes as you go.
And yes—you will be doing A LOT of mini-games and farming. That is the price you will have to play to unlock the explicit content!
It can feel repetitive at times, especially when you’re grinding for resources or trying to progress certain relationships. But I didn’t mind it. It’s part of the loop. This is an RPG and that repetition becomes part of the rhythm of the game. You wake up, you explore, you interact, you build toward something. It works.

Art & Direction (★★★★★)

Character designs are bold and expressive, as well as full of personality. Every character feels distinct and the game leans heavily into bara aesthetics without holding back. The animated scenes are easily some of the best in this space—fluid, detailed and clearly where a lot of effort went.
The world itself is simple, but it doesn’t need to be anything more. The focus is on the characters, and the game never loses sight of that. An RPG, after all, requires memorable characters to be present in the game.

Do I recommend it? (★★★★★)

Yes. Completely! If you’re looking for a gay RPG that fully commits to its identity, gives you a world to explore, characters to connect with and systems to engage with, this is it.

Some characters deserved more development and the gameplay loop can feel heavy at times, but none of that takes away from what this game does right. If you’ve ever wanted a game that feels like it was actually made for you, this is one of them.
