Early Access Review
Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5

Well, buckle up, dear readers, for I am about to take you on a thrilling, adrenaline-fueled joyride through the gritty, pixelated landscapes of BattleBit Remastered.

From the moment you boot up this little gem, you're dragged kicking and screaming into a world of blocky chaos and merriment. It's the digital equivalent of a weekend with your unruly cousins who just discovered energy drinks.

Now, the combat system is as simple as tying a shoelace - if that shoelace were attached to a hungry lion. You've got bullets, grenades, and bad guys with an uncanny knack for appearing where you least expect them. It's like a game of 'Whack-A-Mole', except the moles shoot back, and they've got quite an arm on them.

If you're thinking that maybe this game is about tactical teamwork, allow me to set the record straight. It's about as cooperative as a nursery full of toddlers on a sugar rush. However, this gleeful mayhem is what makes the game as addictive as that second (or third, or fourth) slice of pizza at 3 am.

In conclusion, BattleBit Remastered is like a ballet... if the ballet was performed by hyperactive squirrels on an 8-bit stage with a liberal application of explosives. It's as much a game about survival as it is about creating anecdotes you'll laugh about later, providing you survive long enough to have a 'later'.

Time played: 9 hours and counting. Most of them spent in respawn. And I regret nothing.

Although the concept of the game itself is good, I cannot stress how annoying it is to get disconnected from the host every other game that you play. I have tried multiple fixes posted on the DBD website support page to address this issue with no avail. Over the last three or four days, I have probably spent over 3 hours being banned from the queue due to constantly being disconnected from their servers. Do bare in mind that my internet connection is not a problem, since all my other games work perfectly fine.

Since release, I have spent some hours in the game - putting a tl;dr at the start, I have actually found it to be pleasant. However, in some places the experience can be a little disappointing as it feels a lot like its predecessor - FS19.

Going into some detail:
There is a lot of positive aspects to the game. A revamped sound system definitely makes the experience more enjoyable. However, there is much more to what I have to say besides this very simple change:

What I enjoy:
- Overall multiplayer experience is great fun. Being able to run multiple farms and help each other out is something that I've enjoyed throughout the game series. FS22 has not failed me and I still find it very enjoyable.
- Everything is easy to master, once you give it a quick read.
- Overall experience is not bad, however it is also not perfect, unfortunately. I am hoping that as the game continues to be on the market, there will be a number of updates that will improve the experience!

What needs worked on:
- Something that could make the gaming experience better, would be an improvement in physics. Its nice to see moving parts in the machinery etc. however vehicles still do not feel like they are being driven across a muddy field when it is raining, for example. It all feels 'stiff' - if that is the right way to word it. There is no aspect of a challenge in that aspect - something that I was hoping for, considering how long the franchise has been on the market.
- Seasons adds something without really adding something. Yes, through the addition of Seasons, we experience the race against time to make sure that everything is done in a timely manner. However, yet again - I was expecting a challenging environment during the winter. Struggling to get around, snow physics on the ground etc. this is something that would definitely make this new aspect worthwhile. For now it just feels as if you are driving across a flat surface.
- Map editing is a whole issue in itself to be fair. It takes a lot of patience, we are given four basic tools that are pretty much useless. I have come against situations where I am unable to utilise the tools e.g. lowering/raising the ground won't work. Personally I think that it's something that needs looked at.
- Based on pre-released footage I was expecting more from the AI, both workers and just AI on the roads. There isn't much to be said about this. However the AI doesn't feel like AI... it's just there.
