I think this is the weakest of the three games in the series story-wise. A really frustrating experience.
Only play if you enjoy teenage drama.

It's so relaxing that I caught myself dozing off playing the game.
The controls are OK. The visuals and music are what makes this game appealing.

Pros:
Lots of inspiration from RE and Silent Hill. Aesthetically and gameplay wise.
The story is ok, though the "twist" that it tries to play is something you'll figure out for yourself in the first few minutes after starting the game.
The weapons were cool, I really liked the basic design of the makeshift shotgun.


Cons:
More of a puzzle game than survival horror. Lots and lots of backtracking.
The puzzles are way too many and not spread out far in between. They're also unnecessarily convoluted, to the point where solving them becomes annoying rather than satisfying.
No interactive map, so you better learn where you've been, what you are looking for, etc.
Voice acting isn't good. A lot of the times the voice lines would just cut, while there was more dialogue to be voiced.
Quite a few bugs, mostly getting ammo "clips" of 1 nail, instead of 10.
In some areas the music is really out of place to what is actually happening (intense music while you're just walking and no enemies are in the area, for example).

Not fun or scary. Just tedious.

Simply amazing. Ranger hardcore is the true experience on all Metro games.

The Halo Saga on PC. Enough said.
