Assaulting outposts while flying a gyrocopter and dropping molotov cocktails and grenades over the heads of the Royal Army in the Himalayas is probably the most fun I've had in recent memory. Looks/sounds fantastic and runs like greased lightning.

The Force Unleashed is almost like a time capsule for me, as it reminds of the year 2008, when I started school and coincidentally became a Star Wars fan. My dad saw the original trilogy (they came out later in our eastern european land of fairies and vampires) in theaters, and while he wasn't the biggest fan of the prequels, he was kind enough to introduce me to this universe. Little did he know what impact it would have on me as a person, as for several years, I was obsessed with Star Wars, everything from the films, comics, games and of course the action figures while they were still available in large numbers for mass retail and didn't cost a fortune. We only had a computer and a ps2, and we used to play Battlefront II split screen after school which is probably my favourite memory of Star Wars, but before that, he managed to get the ps2 version of The Force Unleashed and we literally binged it for a couple of days after school/work respectively. Years later, I played the 7th gen version as well, which is just as good, but not as special as the 6th gen one. Besides that, even if the Force Unleashed has several janky elements, the passion in it shines through to this day. It may not have KOTOR's story or Jedi Outcast/Academy's gameplay, but the whole thing really brings me back in a way that few things can. This is a biased review and I make no effort to hide it, but I don't really care about that. The Force Unleashed for me, represents a purer time in life, before adult problems, relationship troubles and Disney Star Wars, and for that I have Haden Blackman, Sam Witwer and the rest of Lucasarts to thank.

The story is absolute wank, boarding on fan fiction 90% of the time, a huge step down from the first game. The PC port is also pretty horrendous with missing cutscenes, 30 fps framerates and a lack of vsync. The gameplay itself is pretty flashy and fun, the graphics hold up and the voice acting is actually pretty good, especially from Witwer and Sloan, even if the dialogue is all over the place. Way too short and repetitive though, 60 dollars for 4 hours at the time is absolutely ludicrous. It's too bad that they only had 9 months for development, another year would've made this a pretty solid title, but as it stands, it's nothing more than a bite-sized curiosity for fans of the first game and EU fans in general.

Tim Cain's masterpiece is still as relevant as it was 25 years ago. The bleakness and the sheer brutality that the first Fallout title so effortlessly pulled off was never matched by its successors. While maybe not as complex and as expansive as the next game in the series, and certainly not as consumer-friendly as the Bethesda published titles, the original Fallout represents an impressive achievement in video game design and still offers one of the most authentic, unforgiving and immersive post apocalyptic role-playing experiences on the market.

The game itself is fine, but the way it's been treated really shows how CA is shadow of its former self.
