-> Before you play and buy, Rebellion not long ago made a remaster of Sniper Elite V2. It might be worth waiting, seeing if this will also get a remaster.

This game requires you to figure out what-to-do and how-to-do on your own. If you played the early days of DayZ, this game is like a single player experience of that. The game lacks the polish and finish you expect to accommodate new players. The tips are very brief and quick to disappear, to the point where I missed some, having to go through settings and using bing for help. The controls for the game are absolute sh*t, you can tell its a dodgy port from a controller, and the movement and navigation in the game is painful, a blend of slow, unresponsive and clunky. The mission notes can be very ambiguous, sometimes lacking some details, which may result in you spending 4x longer on a simple task. And the characters, including the main, are pretty cringy. However, even if you can bear the above, then consider this: the story is surprisingly mellow, it is okay but far from anything great.

So why play this game? You'll be playing this game for the gameplay. About half way through, everything fell into place, where the game's flaws became quirks. Only then I started to enjoy the game.

Should you play it? There are much better games out there, and you shouldn't need to play for an extensive amount of time before you start to enjoy the game. But, if you are looking to play through all other Sniper Elite games, then give this a go. This game took me approx. 12h to complete.

Having played the early DayZ, I couldn't help wondering if this was their reference material for that game. You'll know what I mean if you decide to play it. Lastly, if you played the PS2 version, you'll be pleasantly surprised the graphics seem to be better, but it is a 2005 game, so even then, have your expectations low.
