A bit of a mix-up from Horizon 4's gameplay and physics but a huge downgrade in environment and at times, optimization.

Unfortunately, Mexico's environment does not allow the amount of world evolution that we saw in Horizon 4 with the UK. You'll find that you're mainly driving through arid, empty locals and evergreen rainforests. This makes me miss the blooming springs, rainbow like autumns, and whiteout winters of the UK in Horizon 4. Seasonal changes, especially in Autumn made me feel like I was back in the original Forza Horizon, blasting through Colorado. The lack of seasonal changes is a huge and wasted opportunity of an incredible new game mechanic introduced in Horizon 4, so I hope we can have a better world to explore in the next Horizon game compared to Mexico. (no shade to Mexico, as it's really cool to explore in itself)

Post launch, there have been some pains with graphical issues stemming from both the game and technologies from NVIDIA. It's a bit of an uphill battle to keep dialing this out as I understand, but it is unfortunately still a fault to consider.

But back on the actual gameplay and driving? Excellent. Forza's known for being accessible and satisfying to play on controller, but there has been better support as of late for wheels and even keyboards. The game's well built for controllers and the sheer amount of cars lead to an unbelievable amount of customization. There are meta cars that are frequently seen in online racing but you can build so many cars to be competitive at online and go head to head against the hardest of AI. Keep in mind that this is a simcade with more arcade-like elements, so true realism won't be found here. At the worst of times though, cars tend to have an unrealistic amount of understeer and take time to dial out if you're willing to work on it.

Overall, I recommend this as of 05/12/2023! Horizon 5 continue to get plenty of support from the developers and there's plenty to do with seasonal playlists or just going through the game itself. There's plenty to improve on as stated earlier, but with Motorsport coming out this year and another Horizon game probably being slated for after, Horizon 5 can keep you busy in the meanwhile.

It's not everyone's game but this is the most amazing game I've played in a while. VA-11 Hall-A takes the idea of making story based games and sets the bar for other developers to tackle. The gameplay is very simplistic and easy, which paves the way for a complete focus on characters, dialogue, and world building. As of result, VA-11 Hall-A presents to you a world that is just as real as the one that surrounds you, even if it the alternate reality contains talking dogs and robot sex workers.

VA-11 Hall-A definitely made the top 10 list in my book, and probably when I look back later, it will be my number one favourite game.
