2nd best far cry. The ubisoft devs are great, the business side is what gives them such a terrible name. Not a lot of devteams would invest in hiring master linguists to develop a historically accurate caveman dialect of PIE (Proto-Indu European) for a mainline spinoff, but they did, and I appreciate that.

Vampyr has some cool concepts, but just falls flat in almost every mechanic. Combat just seems like a DPS check for most enemies, with a half hearted dodge mechanic (that doesn't always seem to work) , as well as the handicap of crippling you for choosing the "moral" path of not turning people. It also has what seems to be on the surface, a very intricate social dynamics mechanic akin to what you would expect in a detective game, where you can learn things about the 30ish npcs that they throw at you in the first hour and use it to your advantage. However, these hints about the lives of other NPC's don't really seem to... do anything. You can learn secrets about them, confront them about those secrets... and then 9 times out of 10, that's it. it doesn't convince them to change their ways, seek help, etc. Also, since it throws so many named NPC's at you whose dialogue is seemingly 90% flavor right after the tutorial, I was skipping through every dialogue option within two hours of playing the game. Genuine information overload, and I cannot be expected to care about the backstory of all of these different characters when they're all literally introduced one after another. It has the bones of a cool game, but nothing feels fleshed out.
