I've been playing this game, aswell as CS: Source since I was fairly young, I would say upwards of like 9-10 years. Every single time the game offers a fun experience. Anything is possibly, and the game is realistic. For example, if you get headshotted, you're pretty much dead. Oppose to other shooters.

The ranking system in Competitive is very strict and a very decently fair grind. You have to perform well, and do it consistently to climb ranks. I've been promoted in games where I loss, so it's mainly based off your performance.
