A pretty good game held back by some lackluster design decisions.

My main gripe is the time-limited events in the single player career. Gone is the huge library of championships like in Forza Motorsport titles of old, now it is based on a time-gated "Tour" system. 4 races are added to the Tour every week for 4 weeks, then after 6 weeks from the start, the tour is removed permanently.

This system forces you into a weird pattern of only playing for around 2-3 hours a week, every week, and then you have nothing to do beyond that. It's a weird system that encourages you play the game a little bit, constantly. Gone are the days of being able to play when you want and how much you want.

I don't understand why old tours aren't available to play, it's a baffling decision. If they just added the ability to play past tours, it would be enough to make this a positive review alone.

Another problem of mine is with the money you get from the career mode. If you only play career mode, alot of the time you don't even make enough credits from them to purchase a car for next week's tour. You have to play other modes like Multiplayer or Rivals to supplement your income just to keep going.

I also have problems with the AI. They pretend you don't exist when you're behind them, and yield to you unconditionally if you are in front of them. This means the best strategy it to barge your way to the front of the pack with dive-bombs at corners, because they will never dare overtake you once you get in front of them. Otherwise they are glued to the racing line and block any realistic attempt at an overtake that isn't on a straightaway.

My final gripe is that the game is just kinda ugly and doesn't run that well. It looks worse than Forza Horizon 5, while running a lot worse too. Depth of Field can't be turned off. No MSAA because it uses differed rendering so you have to run TAA or DLSS for anti aliasing. And the overall scene often has very unnatural and ugly lighting and reflections. Unless you run RTX, which eats the framerate. The performance varies wildly too, ranging anywhere from 50 to 110 fps on my 3080 at 1440p, depending on which track, time of day, weather, and scene.

These problems hold this game back from being a great game. It's still a fun and enjoyable game, but these problems make it hard to recommend at the current time. Luckily this game is being updated and changed pretty consistently, so there is hope these problems are addressed in future.
