As soon as in the first hour I fell in love with the game because it is relaxing, its world is beautiful, the environments are immersive and the player feels in the midst of this living, magical nature.
At any time you can craft a canvas from the collected materials, to paint the game scene magically into it. The result is a beautiful painting, which will be given to some character, in exchange for money or to satisfy some quest.
Eastshade is peaceful, there is no fighting, in its place there are various activities and mechanics. In addition to crafting and painting, you talk to locals, discovering new topics and quests, explore the history of these places, which are alive, having a whole story before the game start. The characters have their own agenda, they can be in different places of the world, doing different things.
The world has day and night cycles, and each hour has its own unique beauty, with vibrant mornings, quiet afternoons, lonely and cold nights, with random variations.
It reminded me a lot of the Elder Scrolls series, especially Oblivion, because for a long time my avatar was an alchemist, exploring, collecting plants and items and creating potions. I often stop playing to just contemplate its simulated nature.
Technically, Eastshade has a beautiful look, all dialogues use voices and the songs and sound effects are also a treat. But we can not forget that it is an indie game, made with a certain budget constraint, but even these limitations do not disturb and do not diminish the merit of the game.
