Alan Wake 2 is a tedious, self-absorbed mess. The story is bloated and confusing, the gameplay is dull and repetitive, and the pacing drags like a horror movie stuck in slow motion. It tries so hard to be deep and artistic, but ends up feeling pretentious and empty. Even the visuals can’t save it from its clunky mechanics and constant technical issues. Remedy aimed for brilliance — and missed by a mile.

Score: 3/10 – All style, no substance.
