West Midlands, United Kingdom (Great Britain)
Long story cut incredibly short, a certain genre of edging porn with a focus on self-degradation started to call its viewers "goons" due to how the viewers were personified in the genre (idiots whacking themselves off for hours, not a thought in their heads... least not the main one). For one reason or another it caught on.
From there, English speakers being English speakers, zero-derived "goon" into a verb to specifically refer to the act of masturbation they were partaking in. They then applied the agentive suffix "-er" (Cf. Work >
Worker) to the verb "goon" to yield "gooner" (One who masturbates themselves stupid; one who goons), as a distinct noun separate from "goon" (A brickhead).
