The Black Mesa team has performed temporal brain surgery, yanking the hippocampus from 1998 and planting it firmly in the modern world. The result? A pseudo-nostalgic trip that feels more Half-Life 3 than Half-Life HD - complete with love songs to explosive barrels and a nearly unhinged fascination with ventilation shafts.

The graphics are stunning still in 2023, the voice acting is top-notch, and the music sets the perfect tone for each scene. The attention to detail in the recreation of the era was impressive and the gameplay is smooth and satisfying. Overall, I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of action-adventure games or who wants to experience a well-crafted, immersive crime drama.
