If you like FPS and are interested in the Chernobyl nuclear disaster of 1986 then you should definitely play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Based on the classic russian sci-fi novel Roadside picnic. The game takes place in the exclusion zone surrounding the Chernobyl NPP affected by radiation. The zone is filled with mutants, strange anomalies and S.T.A.L.K.E.Rs who hunt for artifacts created by the radiation.

The game is an FPS with RPG elements as you progress you can upgrade your guns and gear and join various factions that suit your personal pursuits. The guns are quite inaccurate and do break down and the game is especially difficult as you try to fight off mutants, bandits and radiation. The game's real strength is it's immersive and spooky atmosphere that carries through the game.

I heartily recommend S.T.A.L.K.E.R as a fan of atmospheric games as it's a game I reinstall more often than games like Half Life 2 and Deus Ex.
