2025 REVIEW UPDATE: the amount of care the developers have put into Spirit City is astonishing, tbh. there are probably more "hardcore" games that deserve the labor of love award in 2025, but this is easily my nomination.

very simple and cute- it's essentially simulated body doubling, for when you don't have anyone IRL to body double with. your mileage will vary on how much this game/tool help you get your tasks done, but for me at least it's helped quite a lot! inputting my checklist for the day, and choosing a cute outfit and a cute spirit and some nice tunes, does a really good job of tricking my brain into being ready to actually do things. honestly, if this was just the full game and there weren't free updates planned for the future, i'd still think i got my money's worth.

my favorite spirit is drizzlefin, who is the answer to the question "what if an absol was also the world's saddest fish"
