I have been a Borderlands fan since my cousin showed me the first game on Xbox 360 16-17 years ago. I tried to copium my way into liking this game but I just can't make myself go back and enjoy attempting to 100% like the other games.

I don't know how else to put it other than this game feels soulless, no repeated campaign to unlock TVHM and UVHM makes the campaign forgettable and bland. The open world feels so empty in a "we forgot to put stuff here" way rather than Borderlands 1's "you're in an inhabitable wasteland" way. There are no easter eggs in new content which was part of the OG Borderlands flavor. Now it's just millennial corpo humor that misses the mark on what is actually funny and you're info-dumped about new characters you are told you care about but have never met--it just feels hollow to me.

Gameplay is alright - sometimes it feels artificially complicated just so Gearbox can say it's intricate - but all characters eventually end up using the same shield, weapon and grenade meta which makes it even less replayable in my opinion. I know Gearbox says they're working to fix this, hopefully when C4SH and the new items come out with the first real DLC I'll change my mind but for now it's a no.

Oh, and performance is still kinda ass but that's all new games that rely on DLSS and Frame Gen.

the game is very fun with friends, the banshee is a bit too much rn with the aoe body camping

definitely has it's early access feel, but don't let that deter you as the game has a lot to offer

I've played the game pretty thoroughly at this point, and have decided to change my review to negative.

The devs are trying their best, and everyone is aware of the terrible performance. I have had to completely wipe my account for the third time due to a bug where you lose your head and container. There's no way to get these back, and the devs are working towards resolving it but I'm not going to do all of the starting quest for a fourth time.

Also, waiting ten minutes for a helicopter to free up, then five minutes for it to pick you up and another five to ride back to Base Camp is retarded.

Gonna give this game a little more time for the kinks to be ironed out. I see the potential, it's just not there yet.

This game has overall what I believe to be one of the best game-play loops from any indie game. Everything about this game is such a great experience; it has an amazing soundtrack, simple yet beautiful graphics, crazy addictive game-play, and a truly great story. My only real negative is that the combat can feel just a bit too clunky at times but it's nothing that should steer you away from this masterpiece. It feels like the devs actually care about this game as they are rolling out non-stop hot-fixes.

TL;DR: This game is a must have, and you should absolutely consider adding to your library as something to play if you have some downtime. Easily in my top 10 games of all time.
