Riding on your best friend and companion Roach, killing imaginary monsters, and being able to make your own choices in a fantastic storyline, can you really ask for more in an RPG? The Witcher 3 is – as the name suggests – the third game in the The Witcher franchise and might be, like a lot of fans imply, the best one yet.

What makes The Witcher such a good game?

Everything. Literally everything in my honest opinion. The storyline is amazing, the graphics are stunning, the missions are fun and challenging and the community is also friendly. Once you get into the story, you want to finish it immediately, you want to know what’s going on, you want to know about the backstory of the games and you want to play as much as you can, even thinking about what could possibly happen next in bed. The graphics still look extraordinary even after 5 years and set the standard of modern RPG’s in terms of graphics.

What are the negative points of The Witcher 3:

There are 3 main downsides of The Witcher 3, Roach, the overflow of secondary quests (and also main quests), and the lack of backstory. Roach – in case you didn’t know – is the personal horse of Geralt, ‘So, what’s bad about it you may ask?’ well, let me tell you, it gets stuck on EVERYTHING, the smallest branch, a little pond of water, grass, literally everything. There even have been times that I literally stopped playing because of Roach. Secondly, the number of secondary quests there are, if you are a person that enjoys a lot of secondary quests, this game is perfect for you, but if you’re a bit like me and only want to do the main quest and that’s it, this might be a bit of a pickle for you, even if you don’t do a single secondary quest, the game, first of all, becomes really hard, since you miss the experience of doing the secondary quests, and still, even then, the game has a lot of main quests before you reach the main objective, reaching Ciri. The third downside of this game is the lack of backstory, of course, this has nothing to do with the developers, it’s a franchise, after all, but I missed some backstory to understand the game fully, this was helped though because the game made me so curious about the backstory that I actually bought the first 2 games, watched the Netflix series, which I highly recommend to everyone who wants to play this game if you haven’t played the prequels, and I actually read all the books after playing the game.

Verdict

Personally I’m not a big fan of RPG’s in general, but The Witcher 3 really improved my vision of RPG’s in general. After playing The Witcher 3 I also played Skyrim, Fallout, Assasin’s Creed and Kingdom Come Deliverance, which i would’ve never played if it wasn’t for The Witcher. The game really amazed me by how much work the developers put into it and I really enjoyed playing it, as with every games, it has its downsides, but in my opinion The Witcher 3 is the best RPG of the century, and I’d highly recommend everyone to try it! If you like RPG’s in general, you’ll love this one, and if you’re not a big fan of RPG’s in general, you’ll still enjoy this game and maybe it’ll even change your view of RPG’s like it did to me! Overall, I’d give this game a 9/10.
