"Hey Jim, great to hear from a fellow man of the cloth! As a Chief Engineer myself, I completely understand that 'sea bug' and the need to see what’s happening under the deck.

To be honest: if you are looking for a hardcore technical engine room simulator like the ones we used in STCW training, this isn't quite it yet. However, for a commercial game, it’s one of the few that actually lets you leave the bridge, go down to the plates, and perform maintenance tasks like changing filters and checking vital systems. It captures that atmosphere of the engine room daily grind that we know so well.

Even if the ship physics are still evolving (as some point out), the joy of managing the machinery while the storm hits outside is definitely there. For someone with your experience, it’s a great way to get that 'glimpse of joy' and keep the engines running, even if from home.

Safe travels on your recovery, 2nd. I’ll see you in the engine room!
