Good game, stability of it is total ass though. And every crash is related to Javelin, seemingly. 10/10 anti cheat.

To add to my review, even though I still like the game, I don't think I've seen a game this far into release with so many issues with it. I'm barely joking when I say I don't think there is a single part of the game interface that isn't subject to a bug.

Sometimes your squad shows all the same skins, sometimes the stats disappear end game, loading music disappears randomly. Nearly every time you quit loading a game, your character disappears from the play screen. The new icons are stuck for certain guns, and they will not remove. Some items don't show as new when they are. Sometimes you can restart the game and new icons will go, but some others are stuck. Some guns show "new" instead of the new dot, and it can't be removed. On the main screen, gun levels do not display and all show as zero.

It is frankly outrageous that given the size of the studio and the amount of people working on this that simple UI elements do not work, and it makes you wonder if the game is actually working. Honestly at this stage I'm sort of surprised they can get the amount of combatants on a control point accurate

I have never played this game and had a bug free experience.

Post launch EA is added a kernel level anti cheat.

Nope. Nope. Nope.

It's proven ineffective against cheaters, so why does every user need this? Private cheats will still be one step ahead of the game even with kernel level anti-cheat.

It's Zero Hour. What's not to like.

Early Access Review
It's sort of a mess right now.

Maps are confusingly laid out and not very good at funnelling players into fighting areas, you can sometimes go protracted periods without finding any enemies, and just get lost trying to work out where you should be going. The visual design of the factions are almost identical, especially at range... and the time to kill is insanely low, if you don't immediately shoot at everything, there's a good chance you're going to be dead. In 127, the UI has so much clutter it's hard to see what you're shooting at, let alone where the enemy is.

It's all... a bit clunky at the moment. There's some potential there but this isn't Battlefield yet.

It's basically a game populated by arseholes, and riddled with smurfs. Fun game, when you're not stuck with them though.

It's quite fun, but at this stage it's more bug than game.

edit:
I'm finally sick of it being more bug than game, load ins to blank maps, no map rotations, the netcode is pretty awful and I've had enough now. Uninstalling now, ping me when they finish it.

It's fun, it's most fun I've had with a Star Wars game in years, granted I'm not very far in. If you've got a flight stick, make sure you switch the roll and the yaw controls around or you'll have a real bad day.

Mate. Cover your house in bubble wrap. Hide your pets. Hide your significant other. Maybe bubble wrap them too. You will punch a wall.

It's a game to convert a human in to a slimey smiley mess in mere minutes. It's just brilliant fun.

I actually never played the original Half Life when it first came about, and as such I have no nostalgia for the original game. I've always been told how great the original was though, and was disappointed when Half Life Source was just a mere port of the original assets to the newer engine. It's a game that in all fairness, hasn't aged superbly well. A great game of its era, but one that changed gaming forever.

That's why it takes some serious, serious cajones to try to pull this off, and you can see why it has taken so long to finish. This is not a modification, a mere graphical overhaul of a twenty two year old game. It is a faithful rebuild of a classic, brought kicking and screaming into the modern era. For me, this fits in perfectly as the original game, and a neat starting point for the Half Life series.

It is as Half Life as anything Valve has ever released. It might be the finest episode of the series to boot. An utter masterpiece.
