it's ultrakill or be ultrakilled

I personally love this game. Initially bought it on switch over the holidays, that port is good but needs a few more patches to run better. Once I got it on steam it runs smoothly and so far without issue.

The comic-like art style is tremendous, the combat while truthfully a little simplistic is fun, from learning which attacks to dodge/parry/duck to beating an enemy relentlessly into a corner or using one of the guns to set up a beatdown. That said not everyone will be content with the combat.

The voice acting is great, Lance Reddick does such a great job as Hellboy, pretty much solidified himself as the voice in my head when I read the comics now.

The blessings/upgrades in the game are good but a wider variety of unique upgrades would have added more replay value. Not a huge downside though.

Story and Side Characters are solid, but mostly Hellboy is the focus. His nonchalant attitude to the weight of the plot is both funny and in-character. I haven’t finished the game yet, and am curious to see where it goes.

Soundtrack is good, whenever the guitar riffs hit during combat it’s great. Looking forward to when it’s on spotify or youtube.

And seeing how the Devs listen and respond to the community warms my heart.

If I could have anything from this game, it would be a sequel. I’d love to see a online/splitscreen multiplayer aspect with Abe Sapien as another playable character. Slightly expand upon the combat system, and throw in some cool finisher moves for enemies. I hope this game gets enough love that a sequel would be possible, the only thing that will hurt is Lance not being here to reprise his role (and please I beg you do not reprise him with an AI voice).

This game was a truly fine addition to my library, enriching my life beyond it's limits, but sadly I wasn't ready for it. In short they gave me a refund and restored 49 cents to my wallet.
