People have long had a pretty clear opinion about the developer Agafonoff. He's the kind of guy who just jumps on any hyped topic: PUBG blows up — he drops a crappy clone, Dr. Livesey becomes a meme — he immediately slaps together some knock-off. Even his involvement in making “Russians vs. Lizards” says it all.

As for the visuals, the game hides behind a “retro style,” but even by those standards, it looks gaudy and clunky. The author seems to think that stuffing random soundtracks from bass-boost memes into a project automatically makes it funny. In reality, it’s just ear-bleedingly awful, and you can’t focus on the gameplay. The game itself is basically an impossibly broken battle royale on the same empty map with some panels and forest, where instead of real players (because no one plays it) you get to fight dumb bots ranging from 16 to 32, depending on your choice.

The progression system here is just for show. There are 12 ranks, and each new one unlocks a new weapon, based on the experience you earn. KEY WORD: BY SHOOTING, not by killing enemies. Because sometimes you can’t tell if an enemy is dead due to the total chaos going on – not a compliment. You can’t even adjust music and sound separately, or customize the controls. Pistols end up just being hip-fired randomly. Enemies are a whole different level of crazy: bears spawn right in front of you or behind you, and bots with buckets on their heads and stereotypical Russian thugs just yell all sorts of nonsense, pinning you down and constantly tailing you. There’s no balance: you’re always low on ammo and medkits, and surviving in this chaos is just not fun. By the way, as a project gimmick: the game has a weapon in the form of a boombox that you can occasionally toss on the ground to take out enemies when they rush at you.

Games like this belong on GameJolt, not Steam, which only clutters up the store (I just want to remind both users and developers why I always use that same Mammon image at the end — when things are this bad and you can't just blame taste, that warning is needed). What’s meant as a joke about patriotism ends up being plain shameful (it even has a swastika you can spot on in-game cars) and Russophobic. No sane person can play this for more than ten minutes — it’s pure digital trash.
