This is a great follow-up to the original Subnautica, I would recommend it to anybody whether or not you've played the first. That said, I do definitely prefer the first game. There are some cool additions in this one, but having re-played the first game for the 3rd time recently, I just really find the biomes, the story, and the creatures more interesting in the original. The ice floes and weather effects in this sequel are awesome, but I felt the land-based portions got dull pretty quickly.

Also, the bugs will drive you crazy, just like in the first one. I really hope they release some patches soon.

A beautiful little game, just what I needed today.

I'm enjoying this a lot more than I expected to. It's simple while still being interesting, a good game to just unwind and play for a while. I do wish more info was given in the UI, you just have to guess a lot when learning how different buildings and systems work. But again, nothing is that complex. I find myself wanting... more, but not really more complexity. I love the graphics style.

I'm only about 7 hours in so I probably shouldn't review this yet, but holy crap. What a great game. I feel like they took Metroid Prime and removed the annoying combat, replacing it with some fun crafting mechanics. Or something. All I know is that I dive in real life, and diving into these waters still gives me the creeps.

Update: OK, I've beat the game and I think I've found most of what there is to find. Some of the later portions felt weaker, but what a great game overall. And it's so rare to find a survival game where I actually want to complete the story.

I will say that I ran into an incredible number of bugs and graphical glitches, but nothing completely game-breaking I suppose. Also, I completely ignored base building once I built the Cyclops (big sub), which feels like a wasted opportunity. But this is still a solid 9/10 or so.

I've played through the first 2 of 4 chapters. It's an interesting idea, so far, but marred by some nasty technical issues, at least on the MacOS version. I'm not so sure they should've released this port.

My wife and I just played through this, it was lots of fun working together over microphone to solve the puzzles. One of us had to move to the other room so that we wouldn't accidentally cheat. It is very buggy though, buggy to the point where I'm not sure I'd give it the thumbs up if it wasn't free. It took us 20 minutes of fiddling just to get started.

What a great, refreshing concept. I've only played through the main campaign so far, I fear diving into the other modes. My only complaint would be the programmer art, but whatever. Play it.

I bought the game to check how similar it was to a game idea I've been toying with. Proceeded to play for 6 hours straight and missed dinner. You win this round, Zach.

I really enjoyed this, so refreshing to have a solid survival game without the horror, or even any combat at all. It's short, but I'm glad, any longer and it would have definitely gotten repetitive.

Beautiful and brilliant. On the surface it's a point and click adventure without any real puzzles, but the magic is in the experience of it. Sip this game like a fine bourbon, the pace is slower than anything else I can recall playing.
