STEAMDECK: A stunning game in nearly all regards, on the steamdeck it looks and runs very well. However thats not to say its perfect, there are odd frame drops when firing the gun and precaching is definitely a thing when you first run the game so give it a minute to sort itself out, its worth it once it does..

Developers: PLEASE optimise this further for proton, this can be a HUGE hit on the deck!

STEAMDECK: a lot to love about this game as others have said, however the performance on steam deck is a mixed bag, and for the visual it really shouldnt be pulling as much horsepower as it does. The worst problem is the FPS drop any time you have online players near you.. For now, if you're a steam deck owner i would wait for them to optimise it further. Lets hope the developers do because its a perfect game to play on the go!

This game is simply amazing, but sadly the developers appear to be leaving it to decay and that is just such a shame. The truth appears to be this was mainly a test bed for multiplayer of the sister software VTOL VR, where the developers are mainly focused. Unfortunately, what could be a truly awesome game if workshop was opened up, more tracks added, even make free with chargeable DLC, appears to fall on dead ears with the devs.
If you have a bunch of friends to play this with, its incredible fun, if however you buy just for yourself, dont expect to find anyone at all in the lobbies. Your best bet is to go to the VTOL VR discord server and ask for an organised race. Other than that, its a lonely time attack against your ghost. Even adding AI racers would make this more interesting. I'm recommending this (only just) for the potential, and for hope that the devs come back to this.. but im not terribly confident on that.

Been playing DCS for years and years. Will i stop playing it? Nope.. But when i want maximum immersion, with excellent VR integration, and perfect balance between Sim and arcade, i play VTOLVR! Don't dismiss this and you wont regret spending the money! From a serious DCS fanboy.

My buddy and i played the first two and loved them, this one did not disappoint! I'm guessing we jumped on this after the bugs were squashed because neither of us had any problems at all. Sometimes the puzzles seem impossible but 9/10 times you are just missing something about how to do them. Difficulty felt perfect for us, not too easy and a good variation of relaxed scenarios and time restricted. Much longer than the first two and nicely polished. Already looking forward to the next!

Small and perfectly formed, a story telling gem of a game! 9/10 (no spoilers)

A game that reminds me of the strong script writing of titles like The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Firewatch is like a good page-turner of a book that you just can't bring yourself to put down. One, in fact that I didn't, seeing it straight through in a most unintentional single sitting. And in a similar fashion to the aforementioned; short, but oh so very sweet!
There are some very clever decisions your protagonist, Henry has to make along this ordinary man's journey into the extraordinary, which does everything a good story should. The game embraces you on an emotional level in clever and engaging ways you might not be aware of until you pause for thought once it's all over. It will certainly test your moral compass more than once, and you might just surprise yourself at the choices you make.

The visual art style is a little cartoony for my liking but nonetheless beautiful and immersive. I was pleasantly surprised to see it running flawlessly on my 21:9 monitor in its native 2560:1080 resolution straight out of the gates.
There are a few performance issues which seem to be scene-loading related which can cause fps spikes, but nothing a patch or too can't sort and certainly nothing that will break immersion. Audio is largely focused on atmosphere and drops in subtle and effective passages of music in just the right places, the kind of detail I would parallel to a movie production, an effect which only further pulls you into the game world.
Although Firewatch does have its linear moments, and at times cumbersome controls (XBOne controller) the game does feel very open-world, and the map is huge. So much so when you start the game, armed only with a compass and a map, it can seem a little daunting given its scale. Having said that, by the end the whole place felt familiar, with enough character and diversity in each area that you quickly familiarise yourself with your surroundings. I think the only thing I would have loved to see was a change of seasons, just to squeeze even more beauty out of this majestic environment.
If you love a good story (and they don't come around too often in video games these days!) and you have a soul, you will love Firewatch. It's gems like this that restore your faith in how great games can be when the end goal isn't mountains of money and their predictably disappointing hype train we are all shoveled into leading up to it's release. And at this price? You owe it to yourself to pick this up immediately.

Awsome so far, Lara is back on form with her steel bones and anti-concussion skull that must make her a direct relation to Wladimir Klitschko..
Graphics are great but this does need some optimising, i expect to see patches. On my 980/i74790k/16gbRAM and res of 2560X1080 im seeing between 60-70fps on high GFX settings.
If you loved the last one, you'll love this one!
