I didn't realise this had actually been released into 1.0. Instantly greeted with screen size bugs which were extremely annoying. Decided to give it a go whilst waiting for mods to get patched for the new Project Zomboid update.

As soon as I got in game, it's very obvious that this is rough around the edges. The camera is atrocious as well. I couldn't actually bring myself to play any more. I'm sure there is some good aspects of this but honestly I'm not sure why I would play this when there are better alternatives that are still being improved upon

I'm one of the people that remember this back in the Steam Greenlight days, so to say I was both happy and excited this was getting an actual release date is an understatement.

I cannot remember the last time a video game had me cowering into my seat like I was a 10 year old playing Silent Hill for the first time again. The first 4 chapters were intense, but holy crap after that is when it gets terrifying. The exposition and build up is masterfully done, by the time I had my encounter with the next antagonistic entity I was ready to take a break, not from burn out but genuine fear. I usually get bored of having to read large amounts of text but I find myself excited for simply reading through emails and journal entries in-game so I can get another piece of the puzzle. The game embraces how dark it is, at first it can feel a little frustrating trying to navigate in low light areas but eventually you begin to understand why, the use of film grain perfectly emulates what it's like to stare into the dark as a kid and think up all these scary monsters that could be lurking, convincing yourself you can make out the faint outline of something.

As for the negative reviews, none of them make any decent arguments (except for one). All of them are either "doesn't support my non-standard monitor resolution", "no audio" (which is most likely user error given no one else has reported this issue) or being unable to get past the first area (seriously?) Some fair criticism is the lack of rebinds and limited control customisation in general (being unable to set crouch to toggle instead of hold feels like a crime). Also to the person complaining the graphics don't match the trailer from 13 years ago.... yeah, no ♥♥♥♥

To summarize, if you're a fan of games like Still Wakes The Deep then absolutely give this one a shot, for £20 I'd say this is a good deal. I am not disappointed in the slightest

I am completely obsessed with this game. One of the things I've always enjoyed in Mount & Blade was using trade routes to make profit. Having found a game that bases it's core gameplay loop around this, accompanied by some of my other favourite RPG and Colony Sim elements (Random encounters, specialised characters, base and resource management) I have to say I'm ecstatic. And the fact it's so cheap is insane to me, because I'd happily pay twice the price (if not more)

My only real gripe is the UI, which can feel a bit finicky from time to time, more use of keyboard short cuts for some buttons would be a great addition.

Looking forward to the DLC!

doesnt work even if youve linked your steam account to your TOR account. just sub through the SWTOR website and save yourself the headache of going through support. no idea why this is still up on steam

Refunding this, which honestly makes me sad as I was looking forward to this title.

I followed some of the advice in the other reviews which managed to minimise stuttering to a playable state, still the odd hitch here and there but that isn't what bothered me.

I honestly just felt bored, the controls and combat are clunky and frustrating, trying to melee attack an enemy whilst near a ledge can cause you to weirdly float down into a trio of enemies below. Some AI seems to be able to home in on you for some reason, skipped one enemy as I managed to refit a fuse before it spawned, went into the next area and could hear it coming a mile away from the direction I came so I decided to hide, yet it somehow knows exactly where I am.
Weird issues with some textures floating a few inches above where they're (I assume) are supposed to be placed.
Story hasn't really managed to grab me from what I've played, some dialogue gives me the impression certain story aspects were changed or cut last minute.
And to be honest the death animations (admit it, we all love them) are pretty sub-par from the 2 hours I played.

Overall this is really the sort of game I will probably come back to when it's on sale for £20/25, but not worth the £50 in my opinion. Probably just gonna save this refunded money to buy the Dead Space remake.

Cheers
