TL;DR: I definitely recommend this game. Any Dune fans will enjoy the story, and any fans of survival crafting will enjoy this too.

Pros:
- The story, worldbuilding, and characters are excellent. Fans of either Franks books or Denis' films will enjoy this world. The writers clearly love the world of Dune and put a lot of thought into the setting for their alternate universe. I particuarly really like the writing for the Fremen and how it fleshes out their mythos. I eagerly awaited the plot unfolding and am hankering for further story developments.
- Survival mechanics are tight and enjoyable. If you liked Valheim you'll like this. Resource gathering gets a little grindy for t5, but just pop on the in game radio and listen to a whole ass audio drama while mining your resource nodes
- The combat is fun and engaging. It starts super slow, and isn't interesting to watch others to play. But once you start unlocking other skills and get some movement techs, it starts feeling great.
- Building systems are pretty good, with some nice customisable pieces you can attain. There's a few pieces that don't play nice together, but overall a nice system creating some cool builds.
- W O R M

Cons:
- Questing can be a bit finicky and convoluted in a mechanical sense, despite the story and writing for them being excellent. Especially the advanced class trainers. Lack of questing markers for some quests. Quests often
- Endgame PvP uninteresting for now. At the moment it's pretty exclusively about air battles in ornithopers while harvesting spice. There's few chances for ground encounters, and even fewer chances to use ground vehicles. The endgame T6 resources are almost all in pvp deep desert, and if you're a solo player you have to accept that you might get ganked by a guild of griefers.

Welp. What a shame. Amazon has laid off the AGS staff running this game, and will be shut down. It was a great run. #stopkillinggames

Fantastic game, and worth it at full price.

I highly recommend having more than one character run through, because not only will you find new things you missed each time, your choices will change and have effects on different characters and stories.

Edit:

And with all the recent changes Larian have made, with mod support, new subclasses announced, new endings. The game just keeps adding value for your money.

Great game. If you like FMV's, you'll love this. If you don't like them normally, give this one a shot! It may surprise you.

I personally was astounded by the sheer amount of footage and branching paths that were available. Make sure to watch some of the behind the scenes on tinyBuilds youtube to get some understanding of the scale of this game.

Pros:
- Fully customisable difficulty.
- Well written story
- Great acting from everyone filmed
- The parody advertisements are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious. Make sure to watch them after every level!

Cons:
- Some of the story paths convey the plot information less effectively. Minor nitpick really.
- Had a few crashes in my playthrough

8/10

6/10, it's ok. Get it when its cheap.

I didn't get it on launch, so this is after the animation and bug fixes.

Gameplay 9/10
Story 4/10
Characters 6/10

The gameplay itself is fun and varied. The ability to swap between classes and build your own hybrid class means you aren't pigeonholed into a class like you were in previous games. It also allows you to try out new classes and weapons easily, which is great.

The changes to the dialogue system are a good step forward too. No more good/evil binary choices, you're instead given the option of a "tone" to base your character off. You can be Emotional, Logical, Casual, and Professional. Unfortunately the game doesn't utilise this in an amazingly interesting way, just some comments about being "too casual" or "very emotional" if you lean too hard in one direction, but at least there's an attempt to break the previous games morality system.

Unfortunately that's where the good stuff ends. The narrative and characters leave much to be desired. The premise of the bad guys is fantastically boring. Big evil guys have the ability to take over your mind and turn your own soldiers against you. They want control for controls sake. Sound familiar?

The new friendly alien race are similarly boring. Bioware had an opportunity to make a new interesting species in Andromeda, but we end up with "attractive humanoids who you want to bang" how are "super empathetic". They're simply not interesting enough to read about their lore or their abilities.

This could be forgiven if the supporting characters were good (ME2 anyone?) however that's not the case. Very few of them have engaging stories or personalities. Pee Bee is the most obnoxious, but no one else on the ship has anything redeeming. Cora is boring, Liam deserves janitorial duty for being such a hothead, Vetra is also boring. The only interesting Character is Drack, and only because he's written like Wrex was a thousand years old.

Overall, I'd say this is worth playing if you get it for cheap, or are a die hard fan of the universe, but otherwise there isn't much here.

It's a great game. If you loved the first game, you'll love this one too.

Pros:
- Great visual style and aesthetic. Keeps the style of the original while still making the graphics look good
- Writing and voice acting are still great. They kept the same voice actors from the original game
- The levels are varied and interesting
- Music is good

Cons:
- Levels can drag on a little, especially if you're hunting the collectables
- The game design is VERY similar to the first. Not all aspects of that design have aged well over the years. Though if you liked the first game, you can enjoy the design of this one. It can be clunky at times, but it's still better than the first game.
