This is the most beautiful, intimate experience a game has ever given me.

Fallout 76 isnt a bad game, theres so much potential here. The basebuilding is really fun and the core gameplay loop is really solid. Find place, lose weapons to damage/ lack of ammo, loot place/explore, fix your weapons and build cool ♥♥♥♥ at your CAMP. I really enjoy this loop and building a cool looking camp is super rewarding, BUT any half decent looking decor is locked behind a paywall which im embarrassed to say i took advantage off. Bethesda's monitisation of what is essentaily the reward of the gameplay loop is pretty discusting. Fallout has become the very thing it originally critiqued.

The story is passable, Id honestly prefer play this than fallout 4 and the dailouge choices are super diverse and lead to really good roleplaying opurtunities. There was this really cool moment where i was talking to the overseer about rebuilding America with a new economy and I had the option to actually say HEY i don't want to and that i believed that money is what caused things to get so bad before hand. If only this dialouge option was actually something i could do in the main quest. you bassically get to decide between settlers with a raider astetic or settlers with a tradditionalist astetic. They hardly vary much in philosophy and both still want to just make a new gold economy. Unless there is some endgame option that lets me blow up the gold the choice is meaningless.

The devs have but so much love into this game and its clear they aspired to make it something really special but its been clearly rushed. I payed full price for this game when it came out and got it on steam because of my linked accounts. Its incredibly mediocore and shallow but sometimes thats what i need. Something supper easy to just pick up and play casually.

If it goes on sale around the 10 dollar mark its worth the price but otherwise it simply isnt.

This is hands down the best game i have ever played. it's one of the best pieces of media i've ever enjoyed. It's a shame that tiny build have done the bare minimum as publishers and totally shafted Ice Pic Lodge (the devs). Pathologic 2 is the first game to actually make me feel complex emotions while *playing* the game. the story and the writing are brilliant and easily top most movies in their level of quality but where this game shines is in the gameplay and that's where the real emotion comes from.

You're not a god in this game, you're garbage and fist fights and the second a knife or a gun is involved someone is getting completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. The glint of a bandits knife is enough to scare you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ just as it would in real life. The genius part about all this is that everything matters even if you're save scumming. If you get hurt you're basically one punch, hunger pain, exaustion hit, or cough away from death. The best part about all of this is that death is actually a mechanic that you fear, If you fail you will forever lose a chunk of your health, hunger or exhaustion.

This game is makes you feel hopeless and that's what i love about it. but even in all that the small victories and trumpths are so much more rewarding. The slower earned release of dopeamine is a good change of pace for a videogame.

10/10 the best half life game so far.
i'm aware that is a very bold statement to make but this game is a triumph. I have loved every half life game aside from episode 1 which was pretty mediocore considering the high standards of the series but HLA takes the series to another level. VR is perfect for half life and i honestly hope it never leaves the new medium. Every nook and cranny feels right at home in VR and being able to interact with nearly everything on screen is amazing. The game is so well optimised and i never saw my framerate suffer and i'm playing on minimum specs i have no clue how they managed to get this to run when it looks stunning even for a flatscreen game. I finished the entire game before the 1.1 patch so valve really polished this. i did get crashes whenever i tried to carry grenades in boxes which i hope is soon fixed. Interacting with the characters actually feels way more attached in VR i teared up when meeting the vort that had been seperated from the vortesense. I felt sorry for everything i killed aside from the combine, The moans of the zombies are really sad to hear and the reminder that they where once people makes you really feel for them. This game makes you feel bad for healing and i don't think i can ever look at a healing station in half life the same way again. though its not said directly i think it also implies that the powerstations from HL2 are powered by the Antlions or (Leggys as they are called by Russel)

spoiling the ending

The entire Gman sequence is perfect in VR it feels so trippy and is perfect on the platform. he actually sent shivers down my spine when he talked to me and the ending itself was so extremley clever i cant wait to see the follow up in another decade

when you are thinking of purchasing a remake the first question you usually ask is "is it better than the original?" And here the answer is yes, this game is what half life feels as though it was intended to be back in the 90s and i think valve themselves couldnt do a much better job than Crowbar collective. Many of the games faults have been fixed, On a rail has been greatly improved and Zen is stunning. Especially the first chapter. Theyve really fleshed the world out and it feels like a living breathing planet, its crazy to say that one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen in a game was in source engine. The following chapters in Zen although greatly improved with some much better worldbuilding arent quite at that same level as the first. All of Black Mesa is brillaint as it always was but it seems like amo is a bit more abundant which is great, often in the original i would find myself having no amo at all for long periods of time which was just annoying and resulted in me save scumming my way through most of the game. There is non of that here and ammo is still just abundant enough to still feel like half life. The soundtrack is great but all of the songs trigger at really weird times and often they dont fit whats going on or they start to early and end midway through an intense scene. Also at a few points my framerate tanked which is mental for a source game. This game took me 24 hours to beat which is kind of perfect when you think that the game takes place over then course of a day or two. A must have and worth picking up if you are a fan of the original or if you are new to the series.

my first run took me 6 hours to complete it was hard but in the end it all felt earnt i really felt like i deserved to be in the final area. Because as Bennett says "every obstical in this game is real" and just like real obsticals you can practise and get better at conquering them. on my second run it only took me 1 hour a major improvment from the first, again i still felt as though i had earnt my place atop the mountain. Ive completed the game over 50 times now and can get scores around the 10 minute mark without much thought. A super enjoyable game if you love replaying stuff.

I only played for an hour but have decided to refund it, some really cool concepts and ideas but the level of interaction really isn't anywhere close to something like Boneworks or B&S, the One handed combat is really good but you cant even slide your hand down the weapons. The one quest i tried which was the lost wedding ring was ok but not anything Fallout New Vegas level. i'm sure these quests do get better as the game progresses. If this game was cheaper than 55AUD i would probably still be playing it but from what i tried i found it wasn't worth the price.
