DISCLAIMER 1: Gave a thumbs down because 2k and Firaxis really ♥♥♥♥ the bed, you can read countless other reviews if you want to know more about it. This has nothing to do with the actual quality of the game.
DISCLAIMER 2: I wrote this review while off my ADHD meds so take it with a grain of salt.

Positive
I'll start by saying XCOM2 is a really good strategy game, maybe one of the best turn based strategy games of all time. The amount of strategic and tactical depth encompassed in this game is astounding. The game will demand that you get good and learn it's systems even on the lowest difficulty so take this as a warning if you don't have time for that.

BUT, if you do have the time and 'tism necessary to learn this game inside and out you will be left very satisfied. There are countless ways to play encounters and campaigns have enough randomness in them to make them feel completely different from one another. Not to mention that Firaxis somehow managed to make digitalised crack again like they did with CIv so this game is more addicting than heroin.

War of the Chosen
This should be up there as one of the best game DLCs ever made. In the same league as Blood and Wine from TW3 or BNW for Civ5. The chosen add so much fun and life in this game is unreal. Scrubs complain that they make the game too hard, forgetting you can also get three new hero units specifically made to fight them? I'm sorry mate but a reaper alone can ♥♥♥♥ on any chosen any day of the week if built right. Love the assassin and hunter, warlock feels lackluster by comparison but it's still very high quality content. Same for the hero units, reaper is busted, templar is really fun but skirmishers are disappointing because they feel balanced lol. Anyways, do yourself a service and grab this DLC if you play the game past the refund time, you won't regret it.

Do you like robots? I sure do. You know what Lily Shen, maybe you're not such a ♥♥♥♥ after all. Grab Shen's last gift if you like mechs and think games should be fun.

Mixed
You can still find bugs semi regularly, like sometimes animations will just ♥♥♥♥ themselves and not play properly. Like you will have guys stare each other down akwardly from time to time for no reason. No egregious bugs besides the one time my overwatch shot bugged tf out and nuked my match, had to restart the mission but that was the worst one by far. I also remember another where if you instakill an enemy with a repeater on the last mission the scripting just breaks and the game gets stuck, I'd be PISSED if that happened on an Ironman run.

Alien Hunters and Tactical legacies
I'd say the alien bosses added are turbo unbalanced and unfun, you have to cheese the shot out of them if you want to kill them. At least the game gives you the tools to do so (frost bombs are very balanced). All in all not the most positive experience but I would't say it's bad either. The tactical legacy DLC just adds some side content story missions detached from the main campaign that you may or may not like. They also add a bunch of random garbage clutter in every campaign you play and I can't for the life of me figure how to turn that ♥♥♥♥ off. All in all have mixed feelings about it.

Negative
I can't figure who the ♥♥♥♥ thought about putting that stupid ass punk clothes DLC in the game, easily one of the worst features in the game. For a period of time I turned that ♥♥♥♥ off just cause it was so egregiously stupid and out of character for the game that just mistakenly hovering over the damn cosmsetics just pissed me off. Also the other cosmetic DLC is VERY weak in content. I'd say those two DLC are hot garbage and should be disabled or not bought at all if you can.

Really foreshadows how tone deaf and moronic the writers will be in the future. If you ever feel like you wanna kill yourself and can't find any good reasons to do so grab XCOM: Chimera Squad on a sale. I swear that game is a Marvel superhero movie with a XCOM cosplay on.

Conclusion
This game is an absolute gem, if you have the money for it and you love strategy games just do yourself a favour. Only thing I'm sad about is that there will never be a good XCOM3, not unless they fire those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ writers they have and Firaxis gets their ♥♥♥♥ together. Meanwhile try Battle Brothers, those devs actually care about making good videogames and maybe check out their new game MENANCE in the future. Hopefully that will scratch the XCOM3 itch.
