SOMA is one of those games you wish you could forget so you can experience it again for the first time. 8 years after release and many story-rich games played later, this game still has one of the most impactful stories I've experienced in a game. At a glance, SOMA looks like any horror game, but after you play through the game you realize it is so much more. The graphics hold up amazingly, voice acting is well done and full of emotion, and the world and environment are very fleshed out and full of detail. The story is another level, though - it's incredibly deep, depressing, emotional, etc. and really immerses you into the world and the existential struggles of the characters that are revealed as you progress. I couldn't get it out of my head for days after playing, and I still think about it from time to time. This is an experience you can't pass up. Just buy it!

Portal is a nobrainer that you absolutely must play if you are into video games. Despite it's relative shortness (only about 4 hours long), it provides an excellent experience that is unlike any other game, even today. The graphics are timeless and hold up very well, perfectly capturing the atmosphere the game evokes throughout. Gameplay is simple yet rewarding and at times challenging, also providing advanced and challenge versions of maps for later playthrough. But above all that, what really makes this game stand out and deserve the acclaim that it has is the writing. The narration from the computer system GLaDOS provides excellent sarcastic storytelling and gives the player a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes of the world as it slowly deteriorates around you.

Infra is an excellent exploration game with beautiful environments and engaging storytelling. The game can be described as a walking simulator, however the various tasks and environmental puzzles you complete take away the monotony that is often associated with that genre. You take photos of various damages to infrastructure, read and collect documents containing extensive story, and complete puzzles that tie in to your surroundings. The story told through the game is also fun to explore, and while it may be a bit outlandish and dramatized for the subject matter, the sheer depth to it keeps you returning to discover more. Bundle all this with the excellent visuals and world, and INFRA makes a great game worth spending a few weekends playing through.

Black Mesa is a great reimagining of the original Half-Life. The environments are beautiful, and the lighting especially - it does wonders to immerse you in the world of the game. Bright, outdoor places feel as they should, and dark, moody corridors feel as creepy as they should. The new Xen levels in particular look amazing, with absolutely stunning graphics. Gameplay is also great throughout, however Xen and Interloper feel more drawn out than they should be. A great way to experience Half-Life, however I would urge you to play the original first - it still holds in great today, if you are willing to get past the dated look of it.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a beautiful narrative experience that has made me feel a way that no other game has. The graphics are out of this world, better than any game I've played, made better with the amazing soundtrack. Both compliment the magical game world perfectly, making the game world feel so real, forgotten in the past. The story of the game, will not all agree, is incredible in my opinion. Playing through it the first time is an experience you will only have once, and after you finish the tragic tale and look back at the intricacies of the story, through the notes, clippings, and small details, the story feels even more real and heartbreaking.
While the experience may be short, it is something nobody should pass up if you are intrigued by it.

Narcissu is a beautifully crafted visual novel that brings us through the feelings evoked by life and inevitable passing. Despite it's minimal art and interaction, it tells a story that brings out your emotions and sticks with you long after you complete it. The feeling of longing it's melancholy environment shows us is unlike anything else, and brings you to understand the characters limiting situations, and the harsh reality life sometimes brings. A free, short novel that shouldn't be looked over.

Half-Life: Opposing Force is a great expansion to Half-Life, and provides a perfect balance between combat and problem solving, without being too hard or too tiring. The lore in this title is great, and you can piece together a lot with the dialogue from your allies and listening in on enemies. It's also fun to see the ways this and the original tie together, with you catching glimpses of Freeman at a different perspective. All in all, I would say Opposing Forces is an excellent expansion that rivals Half-Life in terms of quality, and in my opinion is even more fun. A must buy if you own Half-Life!

Transport Fever 2 is a great game for those who enjoy building a vast network of their own from the group up, and managing all aspects of it. Transport Fever 2 is great at that, and it is complimented by excellent graphics and authentic vehicles and buildings, seeing them change as times change and your Transport Empire grows larger. I highly recommend this game for any who are interested in it.

One of the best Video Game OSTs that I've heard. Each track perfectly compliments the situation it plays in, so much so that it blends in with the environment to create an experience that many games can't give. It can give you a sense of home where you feel safe, put you at unease when exploring new territory, and fill you with downright terror when you go too deep. If you haven't already gotten this, I highly recommend it.
