A short Q and A
What are you doing for your career?
Well to start, I dropped out of college, because they offered nothing that interested me. Now, I am doing IT classes to pursue working at Best Buy as a starter for my first retail job. I like the course, because I have tinkered with computers my whole life and being able to use that skill for a career is something that I have dreamed of doing.

What are you doing on your free time when you are not playing games?
I am thinking of taking video game design classes from the same site that I am taking the IT classes on. I want to become more familiar with Blender and Unreal Engine and Unity to get a good idea of the difficulties making a game. I have tons of ideas for games but have no way to make them. I definitely have no credibility to go in front of investors to pitch my ideas, so I have to learn myself.

What are some of your other hobbies?
I love mountain biking. It’s something that I have done since my freshman year in high school. I have biked the equivalent of 500 miles total in those 5-6 years. I was crazy with it and I went to competitions to see how good I was. Long story short, I mostly got last place in most of them, but I did it for myself not to brag that I am better than everyone else.
I also love music and I can barely function without it. I listen to all different types of music, as long as it’s a vibe then I have no problem not knowing the lyrics. Though, when you listen to as much music as I do, then you can already tell the type of song it is by the tone.

Are you streaming still?
I am streaming on and off, I just can’t be behind the recent twitch community after the allegations against Emiru when she was at TwitchCon and the lack of punishment to that creep. Also, I used to have an ultrawide monitor (I still do but I have it connected to my laptop) and I was unable to stream because the program couldn't keep up, and it was either give up the monitor or give up streaming, so I gave up streaming. Fast forward a few years and I have a normal rectangle monitor (Still an ultrawide technically) and I will stream from time to time.

Opening thoughts
My Time at Portia was seen to me as another agriculture platform that brought an open world to the table. With a variety of graphics options, and voiced characters all throughout the game. There was a lot that was riding on board for me to enjoy this game. The amount of space it took up and the amount of stress it put on your laptop was not that much, depending on what you did graphics wise. There was a lot to the character creation that was pleasant, there wasn’t too much to keep you stuck creating your character after ten hours, been there, but it does give you enough options. It gives you enough options to be satisfied with the personalness of your character and it gives you enough to be satisfied with your own person flare. Recommended and gifted by a friend, I decided to give it a try, and just like that I was hooked and it took me a while to find the words to explain why I was hooked, and why it’s worth every penny.

Story (Spoilers)
Now, moving onto the story there was a lot that had me keep coming back for more. To being, the church was an amazing aspect that I would never see to expect in a game like My Time at Portia. Having there be a church that wanted to destroy the technological data of the island certainly made it all the more interesting, and I was hooked on figuring out all of the technology in the game, which is one of the reasons why I kept coming back. The game being is to follow in your father’s steps and to have one of the best builder workshops, certainly makes it more competitive, and I am glad that they didn’t implement any punishment for not being right off the bat and later in the game. Other aspects of the story were the side quests and they are easy, and they can also be very hard too. It was confusing accepting unreality hard quests at the beginning of the game, because my thought was that the quests would increase in difficulty later in the game. The game doesn’t force the tory on you to make it an RPG by force, but the one thing that I had trouble with is the amount of things that were going on at once, of course in real life it would be the same, but I found myself overwhelmed at the beginning of the game in terms of activities, events, group meetings, quests, story quests, and so many others. Right off the bat, it gave me a headache and that got me in the habit of not meeting all of them. Aside from that, I most definitely will want to 100% the game and it’s something that I will keep coming back to later.

Gameplay
The gameplay was that of any agriculture game. It’s fairly balanced and there is a lot that reminds me of a game that is no more, Project D Online, having there be enemies spread all over the game in random areas is nice, and it makes it easy to farm items and drops. The variety of tools influencing the environment also matched up to one’s standards. Having a higher weapon of value, the easier it is to mine items. The one problem I had, was that determining how far you could go in the game off your wits made it hard. To explain: Strategy in the Sword Art Online series, the Monster Hunter series, and the Ace Combat series is all based on your skill. Dodging and making the most of your stamina are all somewhat similar across all the games, though this is something that I didn’t see in My Time at Portia, which made it a click faster and you’ll do more damage, which made it feel a little underwhelming. When you would dodge an enemy, the amount of time for the animation to finish was too long, and enemies could hit you in the process of dodging, which makes it frustrating in terms of one making a strategy for themselves over the course of their life and having to just click faster beat their strategy made it, underwhelming again. Aside from that, it is easy to learn, and it does make it fun and a little easier to grasp when first being exposed to the game for the first time.

Art
The art in the game is something that takes it easy on the eyes after staring at it for a long time. So, there is no need, although I do not recommend, having to leave to go take a break. Depending on what the graphics used though, you varied whether you wanted a game that you could keep coming back to or a game that looks unfinished. This is something that plays against the ability of the game. If you have a good computer then you can enjoy the game to its full potential, but if you don’t have a good computer and you want to enjoy My Time at Portia for its story, which should be your intent in the first place, then you are in a pickle. The graphics at their lowest prove difficult to wrap your head around, with the whole game looking like a bunch of colored polygons mashed together in Microsoft PowerPoint. If you can get over that fact, I applaud you. But if you do have a good computer then you don’t have to worry the least. The character art, the textures of the trees, and the textures of the items, they all seem to work together to set a main theme of the game, which is comfort.

Closing thoughts
Wrapping this review, I want to say that this is probably one of the top three Agriculture games to having in your arsenal. With a fun premise and very interesting dynamics, this game is most definitely worth every cent. There is a lot that I have yet to find out about this game, but that only makes it all worth the while, to be able to grow, fight, and build in this game makes it all the more desirable and worth the amount of time to put into a game like this. I recommend this game to people of all ages and people of all genres, this game is different in the sense that everyone, no matter what genre of game you excel in, you can enjoy it for the fun that it is. It is most definitely one of my most favorite games and comes in my top three agriculture games of all time.

Opening thoughts
7 Days to Die was one of the games that I found through the zombie’s tag in the Steam Store. I noticed that a few of my friends had it so I thought that maybe this would be a nice zombie experience with them. Looking around the page I noticed the crafting and the open world aspect. I really liked that idea and next thing you knew I was downloading the game and awaiting a new experience.

Story / Lore
Going into it I did not notice to be much of a story, but that does not mean that it would be a down factor of the whole experience. It turns out that not having much of a story, made the game actually more enjoyable. It is what separated 7 Days to Die from State of Decay. So, being able to do my own thing and create my own zombie survival story is something that is going to make me keep coming back to this game.
If you are someone that likes Project Zomboid then this is the first-person version of that, which what makes it the number one zombie game in my library. Now the lore aspect of seven days is flourishing. With there being different types of generated buildings that tell different stories as you explore them and that leaves a type of suspense when you explore each and every building in the game. Having there be different quests that you can go on also gives it that immersion that you want it, when you need it.

Gameplay
7 Days to Die has a lot of things that keep me hooked on coming back every chance that I get. The crafting in the game is pretty clear and straight forward. The number of items even need to craft a vehicle in the game is balanced and takes a long time to be able to craft. The other crafting when it comes to base building is also very abundant. There are many things that you can decorate your base with, so there will be no shortages anytime soon when thinking up base ideas.
When it comes to the combat in the game, I say that for hordes coming every seven days and having there be harder zombies, the combat in the game is pretty nice. Having there be many different types of weapons and skills that you learn later, means that you can enter a new game a try a new style as you go on.
Now the big thing about 7 Days to Die is the hordes. The hordes in the game are insane. As the blood moons get progressively harder the zombies along with it tend to get a little more difficult and this means that the fear factor of the game along with the combat factor make every night something to fear, and to look forward at the same time. I love the idea of having zombies from all sides run up to your base running to try to kill you and that is what makes it so fun.

Art / Graphics
The art for the game is not something that you will be having you be moved as a person. There is nothing special about it, but for the game it is unique in itself. Now I could look at a picture of an item and immediately attribute it to 7 Days to Die, and that makes me like that I can recall the game and have it be in its own type of category. Now I did tend to notice that as of this review, the game is still at 18.4 Alpha. Update 19 is apparently coming out later and there are a lot of art redesigns and such. So, as there is more to come for the game, I can only review it for what is already available now. Now as you play the game you will also notice that there are few textures unique from one another when it comes to food. I may be holding a can of food, but all that I see my character holding is a sack of something. While I may be nitpicking, it is something that I notice, and while others may not even realize it, it is something that I will still point at.
Looking at the other entities in the games, the zombies and the buildings all looks up to par with nothing to speak up about. Again, they are also going through textures that will be updated, so there is that to look forward too as well.

Multiplayer
There are games out there that have bugs and obstacles when it comes to being able to play with your best friend. 7 Days to Die was definitely not one of those games. Having a simple invite button and options for your multiplayer experience made it quick and straight to the point so there was not a second missed being able to survive the world together. I also noticed that there is a cap in the game for how many players and this was realistic for some of the lower capable computers that cannot handle that much on one PC.
Playing through the game with friends I did not see there being any restraints. Some games color coat loot so each player can have their share of finds. Some games give the host more gameplay features when playing with friends. There are even games out there that do not even let you have the full experience when playing with friends. 7 Days to Die did none of those things and let every character do as they please. I bow down to how simple they kept it and there is something to learn from it in other games. You do not need special functions in multiplayer to make it more interesting, I find that to take away from the experience as a whole. 7 Days to Die did very well in that aspect and being able to play with different friends means that I will be coming back to a whole new game every time and I love that.

Modding
Now, only recently I tried adding some mods to the game to see if I could make it more interesting out of curiosity. And I will say that there are many different types of mods out there, some are more complicated than others, but the whole process of adding them could not be easier. You make a ‘Mods’ folder, you add the folder to it, and then you play the game. Compared to Skyrim, I see this as something really nice as different mods come out, I do not need to clench my teeth wondering if it is going to take me another three hours to add to the game.

Compatibility
When I first started the game, I had a bit of a scare, because I thought that the graphics would automatically adjust to your computer, and that was not the case, so, when I started the game, it was super slow. I do not have that good of a PC, so I edited a few of the graphics options and the game was good to go. I have a note about the graphics along with this. If you want to play the game at high graphics then aesthetically feel free to do that, it feels creepy and scary, and going into building makes it all that more immersive. But, if you do not have that capacity to be able to play at that level then fear not, putting all of your setting on low, does not actually make it that bad of a game graphics-wise. So, when it comes to powerful PC’s and the lower powered ones, there is no loss of anything and I like to say that each one gives their own type of flair to the game, as I am someone that likes to play 7 Days to Die at the low end of things.

Closing thoughts
7 Days to Die is a game that I had my fingers crossed when to looking for an open world, zombie, survival game. And I am glad to say that it delivered and is one of my top favorite games of all time. While it is still in development, that means that more is to come and I can always depend on the developers to deliver more amazing content in the future. I highly recommend this game for all types of gamers looking for a scare. This game is definitely one gem that will have me keep coming back.
